BKK restaurant for 1st night
We are staying at the Marriott Resort and Spa at the beginning of our trip. I have a great restaurant list, thanks to you all. I had in mind Tongue Thai for our first night, but perhaps there is a better choice that is closer or easier from the Marriott, for night #1. We arrive late morning, so no worries about getting in late, unless we are delayed. Advice please. Thanks.

Anything near the river should be easy from the Marriott, just take the boat to Taksim then either the Oriental boat to the Oriental pier or the water taxi. It is located behind Oriental Place, which is behind the Oriental Hotel.

kathie has it right...tongue thai would be an easy choice or if you are really tired stay at the marriott...we like a marriott burger sometimes in the uno rest. on the ground floor---the bakkery area...
tongue thai would be a nice thai introduction however... marriott boat to taskim, then the oriental boat (every 1/2 hour) to the oriental....walk through the hotel and through OP place and out the side door and around back and on the far side of the soi on the left is the restaurant... harmonique is another option but slightly more difficult to get to... or there is always mcdonalds at robinson's at taskim...haha actually what i call the thai family rest. in the marriott plaza is quite nice too....not fancy, but cheap and good... |
O.K. McDonald's it is. Yikes. I don't think I have eaten McDonald's in the last 2+ decades.
I know what you mean about an occasional burger. It takes me A LONG time to get to that point though. Once after eating approximately 30 or so seafood meals in a row in the south pacific (I even managed to get some for breakfasts) I needed a burger. But even after alittle over 3 weeks of Chinese food, I still went out for more Chinese about 2 days after getting home. Thanks, I really did want Tongue Thai and it sounds perfect. |
chicken cashew is a nice mix there of chinese and thai there with a small kick--best in bkk imo
i will be there sunday nite, will you?? bob |

Guenmai - great website.
rhkkmk - no, we will be in Sukhothai. Our dates manage to miss every GTG, as well as some friends who are visiting Bangkok for a few days after a cruise. |
