BKK Local Lunchtime Markets

BKK Local Lunchtime Markets

If you like markets, here’s an old article from The Nation regarding BKK lunchtime markets:

To my knowledge, none of these markets have closed.
The Sinthorn market (near Pear's Bakery) serves lunch on large white square glass plates.
You just point to what you want.

I went with Maeng several times to the noon market down in Silom. Very interesting. Lots of office staff were eating and shopping.

Stroll through MBK. Lots of places to check out for cheap meals or fancy sit down meals.

When I was in Panthip Plaza I use their little food court upstairs every now and then. I like the pork and rice dishes.

Convent Road, Silom, is a very popular lunchtime area.

IsisMonroe! You're back! I was just thinking of you last weekend when I was cleaning out my travel file box and came upon my info on Face Restaurant in Bangkok. I was then remembering both our nice Bangkok GTG at Face around 6-7 years ago and our GTG in Honolulu before that. That was the first Hawaiian GTG that was held, remember? What a blast it was.

I was wondering where you had disappeared to. Happy Travels!

Old Siam Plaza, near Little India and Chinatown, at the atrium (ground floor) of this shopping mall, are booths of Thai sweets and snacks, made right before your eyes.

Take the orange flag boat which stops at the #6 Tha Memorial Bridge. Walk to the Old Siam Plaza which is near the Pahurat fabric market (it's on the Nancy Chandler Map).

Hi Guenmai!
Nice to see you! Time goes by so quickly. Will see you again some day.
I still remember your travel tips about British India clothing and the fabric you get from Singapore in the Kampong Glam (Malay-Arab) area.

I've been with Maeng to Pahurat and also Old Siam a number of times. Lots of interesting items there. Extremely crowded in Pahurat, with lots of smelly motorbikes driving down the very narrow aisles, delivering more goods to the hundreds of vendors there.

Hi guenmai! Are you off to Paris soon?

Carol: Yep, I'll be there next month. Happy Travels!
