BKK in May - am I crazy? Urgent
Hi there,
I am going to Thailand for a week - a few days in Bangkok and a few in Koh Samui. I am chasing bargains and the low season, but it looks like it's raining in BKK and Koh Samui and will be so for the next five days. I always read that the monsoon starts in June. Koh Samui is in its high season, so why rain there? Guys, what's going on? Is this going to disrupt my plans? How bad are the rains? All responses will be appreciated. |
Just came back from a weekend in Koh Samui and the weather was like this:
Friday - overcast, scattered thunder storm with heavy rain from time to time and some flooding. Saturday - slightly overcast and no rain quite nice. Sunday - Sunny and hot. Everyday was very hot and humid. Unless you are unlucky if it rains I don't think it will rain the whole day in May. |
Sawadeeka..I have been in Bangkok for two weeks now, and it is Hot hot hot and humid, but it is NOT really raining..it only rained a wee bit today, and a bit last week..Take care..Yea, good bargains..

i think the flooding generally takes place in late august and in september

If you want to see what the weather was like last year at the same time, look at this website:
http://www.wunderground.com/history/...lyHistory.html I have it set for May 1, 2003. You can change the days. It gives you hourly reports. I checked the first and last week in May, and some days had no rain at all. The ones that had rain, it only rained about an hour. |
Thanks, guys. It seems I am worrying over nothing - the usual pre-travel jitters and all.
Thanks to all for the input - my mind is at peace (until the next viewing of the weather network anyway!) :-) |
Richard1148: Great website! Better than the weatherbase.com, that's for sure!
