BKK hotel- Montien or HI Silom
Does anyone have an opinion/experience with either Montien Surawongse Rd or Holiday Inn Silom. We appreciate western style restaurant/cafe, tea/coffee & fridge in room, central location and frienfly service.

What is your budget? There is a nice boutique hotel in Silom area near the big Bangkok Bank. The name is Silom Serene. You can book via internet. The price is around $50. All rooms have fridges. Breakfast is included and if you eat a little later, you don't need lunch.

for location alone i would pick the holiday inn over the montein...the montein is near the river however...
i viewed the rooms at the HI in june and was quite pleased with the rooms overall...the ones on the exec. floor for $25 more per nite are much more comfortable....much better mattresses...the reg one were only foam mattresses...plus the perks in the exec. rooms...silom road has lots of walk too restaurants and shopping...montein does not...it is issolated really... |
Montien is one street over from Silom. It is near Patpong, the infamous night life spot. It is not near the river at all.

maybe there are two monteins??....there is one right on the river, almost across the river from the marriott
|
i just re-read your request and also asked my wife....surawongse rd is next to silom and my wife reminded me that we met two british womam who had stayed at a montein in the middle of the city, near to patpong....they did NOT have anything good to say about it...

we originally booked the montien near patpong but cancelled when we got the marriott on the river (thanks to bob) thru
priceline for the same price $60. we walked by the montien...its on a noisy busy street in a busy area...glad we stayed at the marriott which was easy to get around even tho we felt like we were way out of town. great breakfast , pool and view on the river. |
Many thanks for the feedback, folks. Will do a little more research prior to booking. Cheers.
