BKK Holidays? What to expect

I will be in Thailand soon and noticed that there are two holidays when I am there. On the day I arrive, December 5 marks HM King Bhumibol's birthday. Then December 10 is Constitution Day. I would like to know what I can expect for these days; things going on, party, busy, no change, do people still go to work or things shut down.

on the king's birthday almost everything is closed...its a major holiday...restuarants will be open and hotels operate as normal....some shops will be open , but most will be closed...the other day i think is pretty normal...

Thanks for the info. Are the streets busier than normal? Do Thais go anywhere to celebrate or is it just a day off to relax?

the kings birthday is also considered fathers day.. since the king is all of the thais father....

some of the biggest fireworks displays occrer on that day. but as i've mentione it seems that bkk spends half of it's budget on fireworks since I see the sparkly specticle out of my balconay almost every day..

there is a big parade on the parade grounds, but the rest of the streets are normal....maybe slightly less traffic in places like sukhumvit
