BKK for 13 hrs
We may be altering our trip to include a side trip to Calcutta for my Husband to do some work for a few days first. Looks like we will have 13 hrs between our arriving flight and departing for calcutta. What to do?? 1030am - 1130 pm This will be in late Oct so unsure as to which airport we will even be at?! Have thought about airport day rooms, getting out to a nearby hotel for a few hours. Don't fancy trying to do anything in the way of sites or shopping we will be back in BKK a week later.
Thanks for any thoughts. J |
For most airport hotel day rooms, you can either leave by 6 PM or pay a full days rate. If you are at the "old" airport, the Rama Gardens might be a pleasant place to relax by the pool - it is quite reasonable even at the full days rate - they have a free shuttle to the airport too. Keep in mind that your total hotel stay will be only about 9 hours when immigration, customs, transfers and arriving 2 hours before departure are taken into account.

Thanks Craig I had thought of the Rama as I had stayed there on an overnight before. I realise our stay will be that short which is why we don't want to really do anything just get some sleep and a shower and some fresh air. I guess since we may not know which airport for a while I could just hold tight and assume we can arrange something closer to the time.
Thanks again J |
There is no hurry to book Rama Gardens, as you know. I'm guessing you'll be at the old airport. I'm headed to Bangkok in November and I'm guessing I'll be landing at the old airport too!

I too am thinking the old airport Kathie. I will just leave things until the last minute I think.
