bkk departure fee

remember as of thursday this week no more departure fee from bangkok

Kathie Jan 29th, 2007 06:29 PM

Bob, my understanding that the departure fee was being raised to 700 baht, but would be included in the ticket price rather than paid separately. Has this changed?

rhkkmk Jan 29th, 2007 06:51 PM

i think you are right kathie, but my point was that you would no longer have to pay it seperately before going through immigration.....
i should have been more clear on that...pitty i don't live in cambridge where everything is crystal clear...

Kathie Jan 29th, 2007 07:23 PM

A bit foggy in Needham? lol

MichaelBKK Jan 29th, 2007 07:31 PM

I think you're wrong about it being included in the ticket price. It is going up to 700 Baht, but the last information I had was that you still had to pay it at the booth outside immigration. They will work with the airlines to get it in the ticket price later.

There was an editorial cartoon in yesterday's The Nation showing someone suggesting they raise it to 1,500 Baht to cover the cost of repairs.

I purchased RT tickets to BKK from Singapore on SQ last week and the departure fee was built into the charges. (this is for a trip in April.)

sharon1306 Jan 29th, 2007 08:32 PM

Oh. I didn't know that. We got our tics in and out of BKK in Jan, and I'm not sure the departure fee was built into the ticket price. We leave this fri.

aluo0804 Jan 29th, 2007 08:59 PM

The fee has been raised to 750 Baht

All passengers departing from Thailand on or after 02/01/2007 will NOT be required to pay the fee at the airport, it will have already been included in your flight tickets.

aluo0804 Jan 29th, 2007 09:05 PM

Sorry, the fee will be raised to 700 (not 750)Baht from 02/01/2007.

My apologies for the incorrect info.

Hopefully someone departing BKK after 2/1 will post on what is actually happening. Right now its about as clear as mud (or Needham on a foggy day) to me.

I'll be going into and out of BKK in just a week or so. I'll let you know what my experience is.

I just returned from BKK today. They are raising the fee to 700 baht and it will be built into your ticket. Thank goodness, I had to lend money to a broke guy or he was not going to get on the flight!!!

rhkkmk Jan 30th, 2007 07:47 PM

that guy is there every day...that is how he makes his living

rhkkmk Jan 30th, 2007 07:48 PM

just kidding

sharon1306 Jan 30th, 2007 08:12 PM

I'm flying into bkk on the 3rd and out on the 11th. Will report back.

sharon1306 Jan 30th, 2007 09:45 PM

Hmmm... I just spoke to my travel agent and he says the departure fee has been included in the ticket.

Sharon
Too bad you are not available on the 12th for a mini-GTG in BKK. There are three of us getting together.
Enjoy your trip.
Carol
