BKK-Connection time
Is 1 hour 20 minutes enough connection time when flying into BKK on a Bangkok Air flight from Luang Prabang and flting out on a Thai Air flight to Phuket? A subsidiary question is whether we will have to clear immigration and customs after the LP-BKK flight. Remember, we may have to obtain out luggage from the LP-BKK flight and check-in on the Thai Air flight.

for most people, yes, but for slow pandas??

slow=retardation

U have a panda? For animals there will be a week quarantine in Thailand. I think the airport Sofitel offer a special bonded warehouse a/c cage or quarantine area for $20 a night.

First, answer to subsidiary question: seems to me you should be able to check your bags all the way through to Phuket. You could call Bangkok Air and ask.
If your flight is on time and your baggage is checked through, you would be considered "in transit" and would not have to clear immigration and customs. If you do have to clear immigration and collect your bags, I think it is too tight a connection. Personally, I would not do this even if I could check my bags through, having personally lost a day at the beach through a missed connection in Bangkok. You might consider connecting with the Thai flight to Phuket that leaves 3 hours later. |
han....no a/c required

its thailand, would they accept $17 per nite??
|
Yes if you pay in cash.
|
sign us up for $16...

I noticed on my return to Bangkok on Monday that they've set up a small immigration area between international arrivals and domestic departures. I think they're in progress to change things so you have to go through immigration, though not necessarily customs, in Bangkok.

Michael and Craig, thanks. Bob and Hanuman, you're just jealous. Pandas are universally loved.

in their own opinions...

Just talked to BKK air and they claimed they had an 8:00 a.m. LP-BKK flight that makes it easy to connecdt to an 11:40 BKK air to Phuket. We'll see.
