BKK airport limo or taxi?

I've been reading all the posts, and was hoping to gather some current opinions on the best way to get to my hotel from the airport.
Limo or taxi?
pre-book or figure it out when I get there?
*I'm coming off a long flight from London, and I'd appreciate if it was as easy as possible (I don't mind payong a little more for convenience). Only passing through BKK for one night~ going to Old Bangkok Inn. Only have one bag, but have never been to BKK- are there enough signs around for me to figure out where to go?
sorry if this sounds silly, just trying to sus out the details

Limo is comfortable, relaible, no need to book, limo counter is open 24/7, it's a breeze, takes no more time than to say which hotel you are heading to, put down the cash and you are off, easy.
You will see the limo counter once you come out of baggage claim, so so easy.

Just stop at the money exchange right near the limo counter, change some cash, move along a few meters, easy.

We usually take the limo (and we never pre-book), but that's because we travel with lots of (empty) lugggage to bring back our purchases. If I only had one bag, I'd just take a taxi. If you want a bit more comfort, take a limo, as James says just go to the Limo stand. If you want a taxi, just go to the taxi line.

You will need Thai baht so make a stop at the ATM or exchange window.

Taxis are ok too. You can find the Taxi boot just outside the Arrival builing. You will tell your hotel name to the person in the boot and you have to pay to them the taxi fare . On the way to the city the taxi driver will ask you whether you will like to take the express way or not. Take the express way . For that there are about two toll centers. That you have to pay extra. Its about totaly not more than 100 baht . But change your money before leaving the Airport.
Enjoy your travels.

we should note since she has never been to bkk before that the current airport is well signed....but the confusion once you leave the customs area can be daunting as people approach you and ask if you want this or that, etc....that can be troublesome....that is why i suggest booking in advance....i use AAC limo/airport taxi for this purpose...then all you have to do is ignor people that approach you and look for your name on a card being held by one of the 1000 people waiting outside customs....

turn left as you exit customs....follow signs for the taxi door....AAC is just inside the door on the left....

now shoud you be coming after the new airport opens in september 2006????, none of us know what will happen then....

thanks all- I don't travel until November... i know, i know- but it's sneaking up on me.
Not sure about the new airport. Flying in British Airways from London, and scheduled to go into BKK.
I'm assuming this will not change. as *I thought* the NEW airport would be used in addition to the old, right?
BKK isn't closing is it?

either way, I DO feel better about not pre-booking any transport to my hotel!

Kathie Jul 25th, 2006 05:41 AM

The old airport will close when the new airport opens. Only one airport will operate and it will still be designated BKK.

rhkkmk Jul 25th, 2006 05:49 AM

in the case of pre booking, it does not mean pre paying....you pay at the time of service...

none of us are sure how the new service will work at the new airport...

i arrive at the end of october and i am now expecting that it will be the new airport...

Guenmai Jul 25th, 2006 06:47 AM

The only time I pre-book transportation is if I decide to have the hotel or my apartment building transportation agency come for me. Otherwise, I just go to one of those windows at the airport, upon arrival, and pay for the car service. Happy Travels!

*eesh....
I'll be glued to the boards once the new airport opens in September- hopefully someone will post details

i just talked to some family in BKK about the new airport and about how we are excited to see it this Dec when we arrive, they just laughed at the thought of it being open by then.
I also read over on Flyer Talk that the new airport will be BNK for a short time while the old BKK(DM) shuts down then the new airport will take on BKK when it is fully operational.
