No Carol,

No passanger trains pass through us any more, only freight. We do have a reasonable sized airport here that was originally constructed during WW2, and the runway is big enough to land almost anything but most of the passenger planes a twin prop 48 seater DACH 8's.

An Aussie get together would be fantastic. I've got a resort style pool and a large bar area that was originally a shed for farm equipment. The fridge is always full of Chang and I cook a mean chicken green curry and spicy squid salad. We do have one Thai restaraunt in town but the service is poor and the food only passable. Plenty of top class restaraunts though, particularly Italian. There is a famous one called Stefano's that people from Melbourne and Adelaide fly here for a night out at.

I am sitting at work at the momment, I have only 4 hours to go until I leave to pick up the kids from school, take them a birthday party and basketball then off home to pack.

We will leave for Melbourne tomorrow morning after dropping the dog off at his little holiday resort, overnight there with the "out-laws" and then off to the airport by mid-day on Sunday.

Yes, that smell. It always tells me that I'm "home" again! Can't get enough of Bangkok.

Safe journey, Shane and family!

Thanks Carol.

I have just woken up, about 4.30am here. I dont need to be up so early but I am too excited to sleep. Will leave for Melbourne in about 5 hours time and then..JUST 1 MORE SLEEP....

Thank you all for your help, encouragement, good wishes and just for listening to my ramblings. You have helped the time pass and have been an outstanding outlet for my pre-travel neurosis.

I will begin a new thread when I reach Bangkok and try to give back something for all that you have given me. I cant promise a "dogster-like" journal of lurid tales and life threatening adventures, but I will try to share my experiences with anyone who cares to listen.
