Bhutan

Kathie asked in another post what our Bhutan plans were so I thought I would start a new post for any of you who may be interested.
Kathie you have been in my thoughts several times as I have been planning this trip because I know you have mentioned Bhutan several times. Anyway we have decided to go in Oct '08. In just the past week it seems we have decided on an itinerary and told the op to go ahead and book! So that is exciting! Our trip is probably a bit strange to mant but we think it is going to suit us well. In brief we asked for a slow trip. With lots of oportunity for day hikes and just soaking up a place if we loved it. We wanted as much flexability as possible but also lots of info as to what is available to see etc in various places. So in rough (the itin is not with me but I think I have it right) our plan is
Paro 3 nights
Thimphu 2
Punaka
Trongsa
Bumthang 4
Phobjka
Gantey
Wangdi
Thimphu
Paro 2
We are excited about this.

If I am correct someone who posts here has jsut been in Bhutan so I am looking forward to hearing how they enjoyed their trip.

Thanks, Jules! Robbietravels is in Bhutan now (or perhaps has just left Bhutan) and I'm anxiously awaiting her report. I'm pretty sure we won't go to Bhutan in 2008, but it's on the short list for 2009.

Which tour operator have you chosen?

Hi Kathie after a few comunications with different operators we have decided on Blue Poppy.

what helped you decide on blue poppy? i am looking for a guide/group but want to do trekking and festivals...

Lisa quite hoestly of the ops I contacted I probably would have felt good going with any of them. It was just one of those things were the person I had contact with at Blue Poppy just really seemed to know what we were looking for very quickly. But they all seemed to be good and would probably do a good job. We are attending 2 different festivals in the time and have lots of ops for day hikes we decided not to do a trek because we wanted to spend the time elsewhere and we have done a few long treks in Nepal.
