Best way from Singapore Airport to Singapore?

What's the easiest and fastest way from Singapore Airport to the city? Staying at the Mandarin Oriental...and will arrive fairly early (around 8 AM) -- will be carrying a bit of luggage (not a ton, but 2-3 bags.) Not necessarily looking for the cheapest option...just the easiest.

Train seems a possibility but also perhaps not, given the luggage situation.

Cab seems like a no-brainer...unless I'm missing something.

Any advice appreciated.

Will, they have a fantastically well organized taxi queuing system at Changi airport.
When you arrive at the taxi rank it's easy to think oh no this will take ages.
But they have airport staff directing taxis in and organizing the queue. You are in your car and heading to town in no time, so for me, regular taxi is fine.

In many ways, Changi is one of the best airports worldwide.

Thanks, Leigh. So good to see your name again! Thanks for the advice.

How much can we expect to spend on a trip to the city?

BTW, Leigh...if anyone can appreciate this, you can: we'll be visiting Phi Phi again (an anniversary trip back to our honeymoon spot!) and just like so many other things on this trip, I cannot wait for it!

FW it will be around $20 for the cab ride. There may be a surcharge as it will be during peak hours but it really will not be much more. Expect it to take around 15 minutes and yes the taxi q will be wonderfully organised. ( although occasionally it can be busy) but definitely still the best way to go.

How may days before you leave?

Taxi since the hotel is not that close to the MRT.

I've easily taken the train from the airport into Singapore, but was staying at the Fairmont and the City Hall MRT stop is right under it. Very convenient.

Happy Travels!

Yes, Taxi is easy and cheap. We didn't wait more than one minute for a taxi at Changi this trip. We had a lot of luggage, so they got us a premium taxi.

Shuttle vans also deliver tourists to downtown hotels. That service could be cheaper than a cab. However, if you happen to be the last one delivered, after a half dozen or more stops, it will be like an involuntary guided tour. The Metro system also connects to the airport; perhaps that's what you meant by train. The careful airport organization extends to its website which will confirm all this information for you http://www.changiairport.com/getting...om-the-airport
