Best Thai Beaches for July?
My DD and her boyfriend will be in Thailand in late July and were wondering which beaches have the best currents and weather for scuba diving.
I told her I knew where to find a few experienced Thailand travelers to ask...

Lcuy for more privacy, diving right off the beach and exoticness try: http://www.nangyuan.com/
Koh Samui should be nice but no diving off the island and will require boats to reach the dive spots.

I agree with hanuman re nangyuan - definitely the place to go on Koh Tao which is the only real option in July. Some really nice dives righ off the beach For the most part very easy diving around KT with gentle currents. The POSSIBLE exception being Chumpon Pinnacle - when we dived that site, there were strong currents and poor visiblity (maybe we were just unlucky!).
If they are looking for something cheaper than nangyuan, then there are loads of resorts on the island some offering diving with free accomodation and it should be easy enough just to get the boat there from either Koh Samui or Chumphon and find something on arrival. You do tend to get what you pay for and the main part of the island can get very busy & noisy at times
