Best Thai Beaches
 

Can someone share with me the best beach(s) in Thailand. Thanks

That's a big question! It depends Carol what you are seeking, oh that it was so simple. You can find a glorious deserted sandy beach, but, it will be way off the beaten track with few if any facilities. Head to the glorious beaches such as Railey or Phi Phi and you will find beauty but also masses of others out to enjoy the same.<BR>Difficult to pick, so much choice. Koh Samet and Koh Chang are getting more and more popular, so too Kao Tao (but mainly for diving). Newer areas such as Bang Saphan are becomming popular also but simply because you can find miles of relatively undisturbed beach, but accommodation etc are basic.<BR>What does your fantasy beach offer? Perhaps then we can guide you to your haven.

Thanks for trying to reply to my too general question.<BR><BR>I have always heard about Phuket and Pattaya, but I feel they are now probably too touristy..........so guess I was purely wondering if I should still hit Phuket or go to a quieter, more serene place. Just want a pretty beach, I guess.

If you want a pretty beach there are plenty to be found, try some searches for Koh Chang, Koh Samet, Bang Saphan, Krabi, Koh Samui. I would try Hua Hin as well. My family and I have been there a couple of times. It reminded my parents of Pattaya twenty some years ago. I was too small to remember much of Pattaya so I can only suggest Hua Hin or Koh Samui.

Many people go to Hua Hin, others prefer Pattaya, Koh Samui or Phuket. Each have their own chacters. What many do not know is that the 'south coastline' of the Thai coast is a relatively unexplored region yet has as amazing number of unspoilt places.<BR>If you look at a map you will find Hua Hin about 120 miles south of Bangkok.<BR>South are Dolphin Bay, Prachuap Bay, Bang Saphan and Chumphon. Opposite Chumphon is the dive island of Kao Tao and just south is Koh Samui.<BR>These places are just an hour or so apart so it makes and excellent area to 'beach hop' from place to place.<BR><BR>Try this site for good maps and great trip planning:<BR><BR>http://www.sawdee.com

Required Reading: Thailands Beaches and Islands. This is a paper back by rough Guide. I found it @ Barnes and Noble. Its very good. Also it depends on what you want snorkling etc. or just hanging out.

The likes of Koh Samui and to an evern greater extent Phuket are simple tourist islands with nothing of the natural Thailand about them. Take your money, spend it, fine if that is what you want, but then why go so far. There are incredible Thai beaches off the track and many of these still have nice air conditioned beach hotels. Chumphon Cabana is an example. We like Pattaya for fun, Hua Hin for a Thai 'feel' and relaxation, Chumphon and Bang Sappan to really get away from it all.

Heard of Phuket and Pattaya, Krabi is now more popular as well, so i 'd like to let you know a quiet town just north of Phuket, it is Phang-nga, off the airport and heading up north you are entering this province, i think it is the province for Khoaluk that Bruno has mentioned.

I was watching Travel Channel and they listed Phuket (Panong ??) as one of the best beaches in the world.<BR><BR>
