Best Singapore hotel?

We're staying in Singapore for 4 nights at end of July on our way back to UK from Australia. We have a 3 year old and a one year old. Any hotel recommendations?

I would recommend the Four Seasons. Great location 1 block from Orchard. It's a beautiful hotel (wonderful breakfast)
p.s. have you ever been to Bali? My wife and I were really not that impressed with Singapore. We were also to stay 4 nights although left early to Hong Kong! great idea. Bali Ritz Carlton Jimbaran Bay. By far the most beautiful destination we have ever been to and we are very seasoned travelers. If you're going to Sydney stay at the Regent on the rocks ( great location)

I agree that the Four Seasons would be a good choice. It is a gorgeous and homely hotel. Suitable for families travelling with kids.

Ritz Calton is supposed to be the best hotel in Singapore. The rooms are stunning and the bathrooms are Wow! Security is good as the hotel guests need their room keys to use the lifts. It is near to Suntec City and a couple of the shopping malls too. However, it is more like a business hotel.

Another possible choice is Westin Plaza. Be sure that you have a room in the South Tower because it is newer and ten times nicer than the North Tower. The hotel has some great restaurants and it is attached to a shopping mall. The location is convenient as City Hall MRT station is next to it.

Sally -

Agree with above that Singapore was not that impressive. Hong Kong and Bangkok are much more fun and interesting.

However, the Ritz is excellent. We stayed there in November with a view of the skyline. Worth the extra $30.

Singapore is worth seeing once but I doubt we'll be heading back there soon.

Lynn

:-)

Hi!
It's true that there might not be too many things to see in Singapore but one can still find many interesting to do.
to experience the different culture, go to china town, golden sultan and little india.
orchard road is the place not to be missed if shopping is your hobby.
enjoy and relax at clark quay and boat quay in the evening.
but the real attraction to me is: FOOD! besides the great food in many restaurants, the best food is usually found in the hawker centre-----cheap and delicious. ask the locals for for recommendation. surely must try: chicken rice, fried kway teow, prawn noodle, satay, BBQ seafood, pork rib soup, fish ball noodles, beef kway teow.........the best!
Pan Pacific is a nice hotel as well, located in marina.of course the best hotel is always the Raffles, but i heard it is rather expensive.

If you want a real bargain, you can't beat the YMCA on Orchard Road. We stayed there a few years ago with our kids then aged 12 and 7. The location is fabulous and the kids liked the McDonalds on the ground floor for the occasional taste of home. Walking distance to Little India, the shops and malls on Orchard Road, a big gorgeous cinema across the street, and the best English-language bookstore in east Asia. I agree with the remark that Singapore isn't really a children's destination but you can certainly find plenty of nice things to do with two little ones for 4 nights.

We stayed at The Regent Hotel a few months ago. The service and rooms were great, not to mention a great location.

Sally:

I stayed at the Westin Towers about 2 years ago and received excellent service. It is connected to a mall and the MRT is right there as well. We were within walking distance to most everywhere we wanted to go and could catch the subway/metro if we needed to.

Have a great trip!

Sheli
