Best hotels in Bangkok, KL, Singapore, Taipei

My husband and I are heading to the Philippines in June for a wedding. After the wedding we will be visiting Bangkok, Singapore, KL, and Taipei. Don't know any hotels in those cities. Looking for convenience to airport, shopping, and major sites to see. Would like to keep price under $100 per night. I've found a website for booking hotels and that seems reasonable. Any ideas?

I'll put in my vote for the Mandarin Oriental in KL. NOT convenient to the airport, but if you want to be anywhere NEAR KL, your hotel CAN'T be a convenient distance from the airport. Big posh mall under the Petronas Twin Towers is right next door.

Oh, under $100? Ahh... well, you asked for the best hotel...

In Bangkok the Oriental, then prbably the Sukhothai. But under $100 for the best? Maybe if you bargain hard at the Sukhothai.

Annie,

I'll also put in my vote for the Mandarin Oriental in KL. The room rate is about USD85 including breakfact as quoted by our HKG travel agent.

YY

Best hotel in BKK is Sukhothai. Oriental second IMO.

For $100, you won't be staying there though. The best possible thing you could do for that price is go for a combo of value and location. Last November, we stayed at the Pathumwan Princess in an executive suite for $115. It was wonderful. It's connected to MBK and you can access the skytrain from there. Very central location. And the executive breakfast buffet was around the pool. Very nice.

Lynn

Thank you all for your replies. We're still deciding where to stay. So if other people have ideas, let me know. Thanks.

BKK traffic is terrible, stay at a hotel within walking distance to skytrain. Some of best prices can be booked by agents at arrival right at airport www.amari.com

SIN Orchard Rd. area best for hotels, shopping, I stayed at Orchard Hotel, very nice.

TPE I stayed at Lai Lai Sheraton, central to all tourist activities.
