Best Flight LAX-DEL

What's the best route to get from LA to Del? Fly through Europe? Go the other way and change in Hawaii or Japan? There seem to be so many ways to get to Delhi. I was looking at the LAX to Chicago, Chicago to Del route, but I wary of changing planes in Chicago in January due to weather problems? Advice would be appreciated!

I do this flight regularly for business and take United/Lufthansa thru Frankfurt. You can probably find cheaper flights, but this is about the fastest way there. You have good reason to be concerned about changing in Chicago, even in good weather. Never again.

May be of interest - Emirates start LAX to Dubai non-stop from September and then connect with thier flights to Delhi. Dubai to Delhi is about 3 hrs.

the cheapest airline for Lax-Del is Malasian airlines which costs you $791 + taxes and if you able to get net fares from travel agency you can get cheapest fares on $690+ taxes

Cathay Pacific has a non-stop to Hong Kong from LAX, and then you can connect to a non-stop to Delhi. It’s only a 2-hour layover which is bearable and is plenty of time to change planes. This is an excellent airline. Seats are pretty comfortable, and if they start running their very newest aircraft on the route, very, very comfortable. Great service. Really good in-flight entertainment. (Food is food, what can I say, I never find it good even on SQ.)

You can fly non-stop to Delhi from New York/Newark on Continental, so you might look into that. It departs at 8:30 pm daily, so may work well with lots of flights from LAX. AA may also have a flight non-stop from New York.

You can also fly non-stop from Singapore and Bangkok (on SQ and Thai Airways respectively), so if you can get a non-stop from LA to those cities, that might work as well. Swiss Air has a non-stop from Zurich, and you may be able to go non-stop from other European cities. Just look at flight times and layovers to see what you prefer and what works for you.

You can fly from Newark or JFK on Jet Airways, a very good local Indian carrier. This would be via a change in Brussels, so three changes may not be that attractive, but price may be good. http://www.jetairways.com/

I would put Indian Airlines last on your list, although they may be the cheapest and may have the best arrival or departure times for Delhi (i.e. they arrive/depart during the day and not the middle of the night). IMO their service and on-time record are bad; although on some of their international routes they at least have some newer aircraft (although I have not found this to be the case on their international Asian routes.) Kingfisher is an excellent local carrier, but I don’t think they have any international routes at this time, but I believe London would be one of their first routes. You might check their website at http://www.flykingfisher.com/

Did a little research for you using <GatewayLax.com>.

Emirates flies LAX-DUB-DEL for $1869 nett. Noted that tax at $61 - the cheapest of all with $30 service fee.

Lowest fare was AA at $1400.60 nett LAX-BRUS-DEL.

Malaysia was around $1543 nett , UA.$1489 nett LAX-HK-DEL

Lufthansa highest at $2148 nett. LAX_ FRANKFURT- DEL

Here's the link I got all the numbers from.
