Best air rates Boston to Bangkok
 

I need a good air rate leaving Boston to Bangkok early November and returning to Boston about December 18. I would also consider going into Bangkok and leaving from Kuala Lampur. I have found one on Booking Buddy (IEagle) for about $982 RT Bos BKK. I wondered if anyone knows of a consolidator or some other way to get the rate lower or is this the best rate? I prefer UA if I had a choice.

That's a super deal. I haven't seen fares (UA) for less than about $1200 for some time now, and that's ORD-BKK.

That is a great price - what airline will you be flying? AFAIK, Eagle is a regional US airline, nothing that would fly overseas.

I often fly this route and have not seen anything less than $1150 or so for a few years..

I prefer Korean air from jfk with a connection from boston on jet blue or similar..

I think you may find a fare problem on your return as it is so near to Xmas...usually fares rise steeply after the 13th..

you can save quite a bit flying from ny to asia and doing the boston link separately.. I've been doing it for the last 5 years.. I also like finn air from jfk..

swiss is another possibility direct from boston via zurich..

From Boston you can consider flying through several European gateways (Paris, London, Frankfurt, Amsterdam etc.) That routing will give you access to more Asian airlines. For instance, Air Viet Nam has good service from several of those cities to its home country. Not necessarily cheaper or quicker but possibly more comfortable, especially if you do not have to connect through New York. A stop in Paris for a night or two would be a bonus for me.

That price is close to the too-good-to-be true category. A low price does not mean a good value, so am wondering what's the catch.

Sounds like you are planning a 5- or 6-week trip. Check on the visa requirements. I think tourist visa-on-arrival is 30 days but can be extended.

You are right MrW, the visa-free entry is for 30 days. If you plan to spend more time than that in Thailand, you can get a visa in advance (60 days) from the closest embassy or consulate. If you will be traveling around SE Asia, be aware that you get a new 30 day visa-free entry each time to fly into Thailand, but only 2 weeks if you come in overland.
