Beijing or Shanghai Fodorite Get Together for October
 

Hi fellow fodorites,

I would love to meet up with fellow fodorites while in China for some dumplings or noodle soup or any other cheap/delicious meal for dinner. I try to get together with fellow travelers whenever I am on vacation.

24 October Friday: Chengdu
25 October Saturday: Chengdu

26 October Sunday: Fly to Guilin; then to Yangshuo
27 October Monday: Yangshuo
28 October Tuesday: Yangshuo
29th October Wednesday: Yangshuo

30th October Thursday: Fly to Hong Kong
31st October Friday: Hong Kong
1 November Saturday: Hong Kong
2 November Sunday: Hong Kong
3 November Monday: Hong Kong - Fly home.

Our only overlap is Beijing.Checking into the Park Plaza Wangfujing on the 11th & checking out on the 15th.

I booked directly through their toll free ph# & got a rate of 3150 RMB (total without 15% tax for 4 nights).I asked for the senior or AAA rate.

Which room category did you book? Just want to compare when I do my booking.

I just booked the Park Plaza. I'll be checking prices in September to see if they have changed. Booked the deluxe with city views.

One down and 3 to go. Yangshuo and HK hotels are booked. :)

How much is your rate? Our 3150 (4 nights) is for the superior rm.I'll be checking also in Sept.By the way, our group of 6 will be meeting with JPdeM from Trip Advisor on Monday.He's a local fellow who posts answers often on TA.

I booked their deluxe-city view room for 765/night and with taxes it comes to 3,825 for 5 nights ($111/night).
I booked using their government rates.

PPS: I was not correct in my message. I just re-checked my confirmation email: My room is 765/night = 3,825 BEFORE taxes. So, the only big difference is the type of room.
