beijing hotels
I have read the postings and have researched online about hotel in Beijing but still haven't found one I think is good for us. Can anyone help? Three of us which includes me,husband and adult daughter, going to Beijing Nov 1 and staying three days (daughter is with airlines - anyone know of a discount?). Would like something near activities but nothing that would break the bank. We will be out most of the time anyway - all we require is our own bathroom! Thanks for any suggestions. I know the crew stays at the Holiday Inn Lido but that looks too far away from sites - true?

what amount would "break the bank"? then we can help better...
sights are all over this huge city... |
It would be great to keep room to less than $125 and the sights I am referring to, mainly, would be around T Square.
|
Stay around Wongfujing, a little east of Tinanmen Square. Lots of hotels, shops and restaurants. $125 can get you one of the better 4* there.
|
Sorry, correct spelling is Wangfujing.
|
Crown Plaza,Park Plaza,Novotel Peace Hotel,Taiwan hotel,Wangfujing Grand Hotel are around Wangfujing Area, close to Tian`anmen Square and Fobidden City.
have fun |
Violet's suggestions are all good, check on ctrip and elong for pricing.

You guys are GREAT.....I am constantly telling friends about this site and the info that is first hand. The hotel names are familiar in my research so will now get serious since I only have a month. Our trip was thought up when daughter said she was resigning when her pg leave expired. So sad. We said where can we go - far away since the air fare is nothing.

We stayed in a wonderful courtyard hotel (type not the name of the chain) in a hutong near the main shopping street and all the major tourist areas. It was a wonderful chance to see "real" Chinese life. Very clean, safe, interesting with Chinese furnishings, including birdcages and fish bowls in the courtyard.
Check out their website: haoyuan.com -- which shows exactly how the hotel looks. The Haoyuan Hotel is located next to a Chinese elementary school. Each morning the kids came out into the schoolyard to sing "it's a small world." Worth the trip! Very close to the Regent and the Peninsula, where we had several really good meals. Highly recommend this chance to live in an emperor's house. |
we would love to here the children sing their tribute to Disney, any idea what sort of time this happens?

I have stayed at the Taiwan Hotel 9 times (and there now). It is 1 block from Wangfujang ped mall, next to the Novotel, about 15 minute walk to Forbidden city, Peninsula Hotel is across the street. It has been $90 double this week, a huge tourist time We usually pay $70. Has everything you need. No pool. Have stayed at Beijing hotel, Sino Swiss before, no comparison for value Highly suggest Li Qun roast duck place in a hutong reviewed in Fodors, small, grubby, family run, been there for years

Beaker: Can you (or anyone) tell me best way to book the Taiwan Hotel? I cannot find anything online other than representing companies. How did you book? It sounds/looks like a great place.
