Bed Supper Club

I am thinking of making a reservation at Bed Supper Club in Bangkok. Can anyone give me an idea of a price range? I just want to make sure I'm not getting into anything exorbitant. Thanks so much!

glorialf Apr 8th, 2005 08:21 AM

I think it was about $30 per person (perhaps a bit less) for the dinner (3 courses). Wine or liquor was, of course, extra. Wine was expensive -- on a par with wine at the better restaurants in Bangkok.

I felt the dinner and the experience were well worth the money.

Is it true that the Bed & Supper Club also have people giving massages?
Are they every night or just on weekends?
What is the cost?

hawaiiantraveler Sep 7th, 2005 10:52 AM

I remember the price as 1090 baht each and yes grandma they have people walking around offering massages before or after dinner.
Aloha!

jdeg Sep 7th, 2005 11:08 AM

I've emailed Bed twice to try to confirm that they offer a vegetarian option for their weekend fixed menu and haven't gotten a response. That really bugs me and will probably lead me to not eat there. But has anyone had their vegetarian dinner?

simpsonc510 Sep 7th, 2005 01:27 PM

grandma
Yes, there are massages at the Bed. I've only seen it after dinner, but it may be before as well. I'm not sure of the cost, maybe it's for a tip?? I have not had the massage. Dinner at the Bed is 1090 baht per person I know for sure, but the massage? I'm sure it isn't ANOTHER 1090baht. Surely that's not what hawaiiantraveler meant.

Enjoy the experience! It's awesome.

If I recall the massage was only a couple of dollars but it's really just a neck massage -- and lasts maybe 15 minutes at most.

hawaiiantraveler Sep 7th, 2005 02:29 PM

your right carol..sorry for confusing..the dinners are 1090 baht and the massages were extra.

Guenmai Sep 7th, 2005 07:03 PM

I was just there about a week and a half ago and asked for either 100% vegetarian or fish. The first course was lamb soup and I was given an incredible vegetarian salad instead. Then I was given an incredible fish dish. You would only have to get a vegetarian second course. The other courses were fine. I was concerned about the set-menu, but the waitress came over to our section and asked if there was anything that anyone couldn't eat and I told her and then I got exactly what I wanted. It's dark in there so you won't be able to check the food to see if there's been anything added that you might not be able to eat. I have a few severe food allergies and was concerned about an ingredient that might be added that could send me to Bumrungrad...good I have my medical card for there...but I told the waitress of the food allergy items and my food was fine.Happy Travels!

rhkkmk Sep 7th, 2005 07:36 PM

the weekday menu with a choice was 1090 B per person ++ in june...the set meal was more on weekends and has an additional course...maybe 1300-1500B????

e mail them again if they did not answer in a day or two....things get lost

You and I BOTH could end up at Bumrungrad... I also have a couple of very strange but severe food related allergies!

Bob...I was there on a Friday and paid around 1090Baht. Happy Travels!

orgy7 Sep 8th, 2005 07:11 AM

So. after dinner can you go too the dance club for free or is it another 1000 baht.

Guenmai Sep 8th, 2005 09:39 AM

I think it's free. The club is VERY small and smokey with very loud music. Not a nice club, in my opinion. It's like two different worlds...the restaurant and the club. The restaurant had WAY better music...remixed 70s R&B/hiphop. My friends and I were nearly dancing on the beds. It was great! Happy Travels!

Guenmai Sep 8th, 2005 09:42 AM

Forgot to add that you absolutely must have ID to get in no matter what your age although you have to be 20 to get in. I always carry my expired passport around for ID and leave the valid one in the safe at my hotel. Happy Travels!

glorialf Sep 8th, 2005 10:37 AM

My friend and I both brought our passports and when we asked if they wanted to see any id they said "no need" so I guess at a certain age they actually don't look. And I guess we were at it, :-) But Guen is right you should bring it with you.

Guenmai Sep 8th, 2005 07:04 PM

They definitely asked me and I just turned 50. My friends are 29. They checked all three of us. I'm glad I had it. Happy Travels!

rhkkmk Sep 8th, 2005 07:21 PM

we were not asked for passports either but we are 61....they did stress it on all communications however....

the weekend meal is for 2 nites so maybe it is sat and sun?? they often have private parties as well and close completely so contact them 30 days in advance...

the club is medium size imo...we walked right in and just looked around...did not see a fee situation

About the weekend "surprise" dinner. The web site said it is on Fri & Sat and there there was special entertainment. Which to you all think is more important going on the weekend for the special entertainment without ordering off the menu, or ordering what you want without the weekend entertainment. It sounds like just people watching is enough entertainment, but what can I expect the rest of the week? Thanks, ready to make a reservation and this will help decide which day to do it.

glorialf Sep 9th, 2005 07:34 AM

We went during the week and had "entertainment". Even if you go when you can pick what you want you only have 3 options if I recall.

Guenmai Sep 11th, 2005 04:41 PM

Bob...They didn't ask specifically for a passport, that's what I took for my "required" piece of ID. As I mentioned, I just turned 50 and my friends are 29 and they really took some time to look at, all three of us, and our IDs. I thought I'd be able to just breeze on by, without ID,and get in, but that didn't happen. As for reservations, I had a friend call three days before we went and we had no problem getting in. Happy Travels!

lcuy Sep 11th, 2005 05:55 PM

My daughter went in with us on a week night, and again on a friday with teh fixed menu. She said the entertainment was basically the same. It is different every night, but there was no more or less weekday vs weekend.

Also said the club looked like a lot of "old people" (she and BF are 20)and they did not stay after dining.

rhkkmk Sep 11th, 2005 07:54 PM

the nite we were at bed the guests were mostly 25-35 i would say....for kids its not exactly a cheap place to go so i suspect it is more for the working upward mobile rather than for the student age kids....plus the food is very chic and probably not geared to the younger generations...the portions are only average size as well....most students love to eat....

glorialf Sep 11th, 2005 08:29 PM

When I was there I would say most people were 40-65. Many were ex pats who had retired to Thailand. There were some people who were in their 20s and 30s and a few who were 70 plus.

lcuy Sep 11th, 2005 10:11 PM

oops..meant to write that my daughter thought the NIGHTCLUB section had a lot of "old" people. She and BF loved eating there, as did all our family.

She was also impressed that on the fixed menu night they created vegetarian dishes for her.

orgy7 Sep 12th, 2005 04:34 AM

I went to the club about 2 years ago and I thought it was one of the lamest/boring upscale clubs I've ever been too. just about no one really dnace. Just shuffled around next too the tables. and yep it was full of midle aged dudes. but I guess it has now become the HOTTEST geriatric Club in the world..

the place is really cool looking so it's worth a look.

simpsonc510 Sep 12th, 2005 05:38 AM

orgy
I've dined at the Bed on several occasions now and have enjoyed it each and everytime. The "Club" part is not for me. We walked in there for a look, but there was nothing that would get me back there, but the Supper Club, YES, absolutely! The "Club" was full of upwardly mobile 20's and 30's folks, while the Supper Club is all ages! An interesting mix.

One has to be at least 20 to get in, I was told by the Thai friends I went with. So, if any of you have kids, then they won't be able to get in. Plus, it's not a "Kids" place anyhow. It was nice to, for once, dine at a totally,"adult" place. Happy Travels!
