beaches in Thailand
Hi All,
We will be in Thailand fo a week in end September. This is the monsoon season. Where will I get the least rainfall Ko Samui or Krabi. Is Chaing Mai a good option at that time of the year? |
Late September is a really hard time to guarantee good weather at either Samui or Krabi. I have been to both at this time of year and have had a better run in Samui. Samui has a lot of land based activities that can keep you occupied on rainy days, but if the rain is heavy, the streets can flood making access to these activities difficult. The best part about Krabi (AO Nang) is the Island hopping, which can be difficult if the weather turns nasty. If you dont need to pre-book and you are heading to Bangkok first, I would wait until I got there, have a look at the short term forcasts and then head to the area that has the most favorable outlook. At that time of year there will be heaps of accomadation available and a lot of places will be offering deals in both locations.

We went to Koh Chang in September a couple of years and had very good weather ( maybe one bad day out of 7). It is on the other side of teh gulf of Thailand from KS near the Cambodian border so maybe that makes a difference

As shanek said, it is hard to predict the weather in Thailand in September. As shanek suggested, going to Bangkok first, and then deciding the destination may be one of the way.
Krabi is in the middle of rainy season. The rainy season starts around the middle of September in Samui. Chiang Mai is in the middle of rainy season, and September is the wettest month, but it is usually brief evening or afternoon rain.
