Beaches/5 star villa/sunsets
Hello,
I looking for the best 5 star resort...with sunsets...best beaches...on a quiet island. We want beachfront. Ko saumi is the island that keeps showing up. My boyfreind wants to do Ko Chang but I really not coming up with many resorts that have beachfront vills. any advise thanks |
Might be easier to help if you give time of year when travelling and your approx budget. Time of year will affect travel plans if you want to avoid rain. Sala Samui seems popular in Ko Samui with Villas that have own plunge pools.

I agree with the last posting, Really depends on the time of the year. Check out Koh Phee Phee as well... just spectacular
|
I guess that would help We are going Christmas/New years and price is not a issue.

For that time of the year, you really want the other side of the peninsula, so the Phuket, Krabi, PhiPhi, Ko Lanta, Ko Lak areas are better weather-wise. As you are traveling at the busiest time of the year, start looking to book NOW. Many places will already be booked. You might want to start by loooking at one of teh Thai booking sites - www.sawasdee.com is goos and includes all taxes and service (17% total).

all along the beachfront in koh chang there are beach front places and the same for certain areas in samui..
we stayed at the peace resort on samui in an absolute beach front and at the barali on koh chang there were at least two or three beach front bungalows although we choose to stay one tier back from the beach |
while neither are 5 star resort they would qualify as 3 stars for amenities and 5 star for sunsets...
|
Thanks for the info.. what is the weather like in ko saumi that time of year? I found this place...
http://www.pansea.com/updatesamui/index.html It looks wonderful and was thinking looking for a cook for the week. |
i have visited the pansea but have not stayed there....it is very beautiful....there are some villas just above the sea, and some on top of the hill....all the resort is built into a sloap down to the sea....one caution....there is no beach at the resort....you have to go elsewhere for that....we met a french couple who loved the resort but were very mad that they had to take transportation to the beach each time they wanted to go there....the hotel is very issolated also so no restaurants, etc very close...it is beautiful however....the nicest we saw on samui..

I did do some research and I have read that there is a small beach. This looking for a 5 star perfect beach/quiet villa is driving me crazy. It seems like I can't seem to get it all.

Maybe have a look at these.

I think it is difficult to find 5* along with perfect beach as the most perfect beach - in terms of sand/scenery - are the most built up. However, take a look at Tongsai Grand Villa/Tongsai Bay. Also take a look at the reviews of this on tripadvisor.com.

Rayavadee on Krabi. Check the website.

Hi - just realised you are travelling at Xmas/New Year. As you said cost is not an issue, have you looked at the Amanpuri in Phuket?
|
The only 5* resort that I stayed at in Thailand that meets your requirements "sunsets, best beach, quiet island, beach front villa" would be the Pimalai on Koh Lanta. There are several villas directly on the beautiful, very quiet, beach and the sunsets are brilliant.
|
For the best of sunsets you need to be west facing.
Although Phuket is busy you can find quiet beaches, if you truly mean price is no problem an Ocean Pavilion at the Amanpuri is an option or a Beach deluxe suite at the Chedi. At Christmas/New year the weather on Phuket 'should' be better than Samui but last year/easrly this year weather was upside down! The advantages on Phuket are that you would have a large choice of good restaurants too. Koh Yao is a nice remote island near Phuket but you would not have places to dine except your own resort or a couple of other places, remote and quiet means remote and quiet. If money is no objetc the Amanpuri or Chedi beachfront, the Pimalai on Koh lanta is also a good option. If you can tell us if you simply want to stay in the resort or if you want good restaurants, some entertainment/nightlife, any shopping etc it helps give more precise ideas. |
