Travel Buddy
Need some help. I am a 59 year woman looking for a female travelling companion, not a sexual partner. Not many older females with curiousity about Asia or the world it seems. Does anyone know of websites catering for to single seniors looking for travel buddies?
Thank You

You know, there must be such websites - there are websites for everything else!
If I was in your situation, I'd look for someone to travel with through a business or professional organization. You certainly could travel with a tour group, but personally, I'm so retlentlessly independent that would drive me crazy!

If you don't need posh hotels you could look at intrepidtravel.com - I've done a few tours with them, and had great roommates. Their max group size is 12 and you get plenty of free time. www.adventures-abroad.com looks similar but a bit more upmarket.
But the more I travel the more I agree with Kathie. Have you considered going alone? I'm female, and my 58th year I did a 10-month solo round-the-world trip. Details at wilhelmswords.com - I just heard from a woman who read my site and has decided to try solo travel.

Bonjour nshbc,
Have you tried to find whether there's a cultural association* about the country(ies) you're interested to travel to, around where you live ? You might meet people sharing your interests and end up finding the kind of partner(s) you're looking for.
* Museum, university department, or expatriate group, for example.

I don't know of such a web site but you might consider the homestays that are available through www.hospitalityclub.com and couchsurfing.com.
These are both sites that encourage homestays and the membership is free.
Just an idea...
When are you traveling? I will be doing a solo trip in November and I am not ageist. I would enjoy meeting up with you if our dates coincide.
Cheers!

Oops, forgot to mention that you also might want to check the "Travelling Companions" branch on Lonely Planet, Thorn Tree.
Elderhostel is quite popular, tho maybe you're too young for it, tho I really don't know their age minimum.
