Banyan Tree or Conrad Bangkok?
Dear Fodorites,
I need a hotel recommendation, please... Given a similar rate for these 2 hotels, except that Conrad includes breakfast (and BT doesn't), which would you take? This is for early April 09. And, which one has a better location (for a 1st timer in BKK)? Many thanks! |
can't comment on either but hilton.co.uk have a january sale on which includes half price stays at the Conrad at weekends. I don't know if that will cheapen the way any and make a decision for you but prob worth checking out.

Check out the Banyan tree free night deal.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I'm aware of the special deals at the 2 hotels (thanks for the tips, btw)...and that is also why I raised the question...the rate ends up to be very similar (per nite) with Conrad includes breakfast...
Hoping that fodorites can elp me to decide on which hotel to stay for early april. Thanks! |
In my opinion, the Conrad is better located. Have not stayed at either one.
Hyatt and Four Seasons are both in better locations, skytrain-wise. I would want to be close to the BTS staion! April is the hottest month so temps as well as humidity will get to you if you have to walk very far! |
Have stayed at the Conrad 3 times and love it. If you can pay a bit extra fro teh Exec floor do it - it is worth it. I haven't staed at teh Banyan but have visited a couple of time and felt it was looking a bit tired (but the rooms may be great?). The Conrad is a 10 min walk to the BTS and a couple of stops from Siam Square and so is pretty convenient to get around town.

Thank you!
It looks like I'll be staying in Conrad then. Cheers! |
you will be very happy with the conrad...have lunch at liu rest. on the 3rd floor....they have a bus to take you to the sky train---ask the doormen to stop it for you...
attached mall is a bust |
But the attached mall has a great burger joint, if you want a nice change from Thai/Asian food. The Garage has delicious American style hamburgers with all the trimmings.

Bob,
Are you referring to Conrad hotel's private bus or regular public bus to the skytrain? Do you happen to know how often does it run? Thanks |
Hi
I have not stayed at any of these hotels but I have wanted to stay at Conrad when I have gone to Bangkok but I have always ended up in other hotels...last time in Grand Centara at CentralWorld. But my impression is that both hotels that you mention is not that close to a skytrain/subway. But it should not be a problem and I'm sure that both hotels are lovely. Here is my Bangkok trip report with pictures and links from 2007 http://gardkarlsen.com/Bangkok_trip_report_2007.htm . Maybe you can find some useful info there :d Get in touch if you have any questions. Regards Gard http://gardkarlsen.com - trip reports and pictures |
it does not belong to the hotel...it is a small bus that passes by the hotel...it is free and the doorman hails it for you....not sure on timing...maybe every 30 min???
