Bangkok: Wat Benjamabopit

Any rants or raves about this place?

Is this write up about getting there accurate:

Wat Benjamabopit: Difficult to get to by public transport alone.

Take the Chaophraya River Express boat to Tewet pier and the grab a tuk-tuk to Wat Benjamabopit. The other option is to take the Skytrain to Phyathai station and then find a taxi on Sri Ayutthaya road to take you to the temple.

i have re thought my original post...i think i would start my day by taking a taxi directly to one of the wats you want to visit...wing it from there....you want the english tour at V-mark palace so check the times on this....have the hotel doorman instruct the driver where to take you...also take a hotel directions card with you always---ask the doorman...

Wat Ben is one of the best places to watch merit-making. Arrive very early, soon after sunrise, and you can watch people arriving with food for the monks. (You can also bring food - ask the concierge at your hotel about how to arrange for this). We just took at taxi there (and back in time for our breakfast). Taxis are so cheap in Bangkok, and early morning traffic is not problematic. While I like taking the river taxis and the skytrain, I do so when convenient. It's not convenient for this wat, so do take a taxi.

I concur with Kathie that Wat Ben (Marble Wat) is not convenient to the river taxi or the sky train. If you are not inclined to do it first thing in the morning, see it before or after the Teak (Vimarnmek) Palace which is nearby. As wats go, it is one of the more impressive ones in Bangkok but not necessarily worth a special trip unless you want to catch the merit-making.

Thanks - I'll take a taxi and start here before going to the V-Mark.
