Bangkok to Hong Kong flights
We're flying from Bangkok to Hong Kong in November. The cheapest flight on Kayak is on ThaiAir Asia. Are there other airlines some of you use not listed on Kayak?
Oops. Pakistani Air is cheaper today. I'm not familiar with this airline or Air Asia or most of the airlines the fly this route. Any suggestions?
Air Asia is a budget airline. So you pay extra for assigned seats, for luggage over a minimum amount, etc. Thye are fine for point to point flights, a hassle for connecting flights as they do not transfer luggage.
I don't know whether Dragon Air flies this route - they are the budget arm of Cathay Pacific. I don't think I'd opt for Pakastini Air. |
airasia.com is best for me on that route usually.
Great prices if you decline all extras and book direct usually for me. |
bkk air used to fly to macau, not sure if they still do??
Thanks for info. qwovadis, the problem is I do want extras like a seat and I have one bag to check. I can't seem to get a complete total for all that online until after I've put in more information than I want to, like name, adress, passport #. Is there a way to see what the real total will be before giving all that information?
nope
Setup a profile with Air Asia, that way you won't have to enter your personal information everytime. You can even setup profiles for friends/family. You don't have to enter your passport number.
put in all that info right up till the point where you pay and you will get the total
Remember, too, that with Air Asia, each flight is priced separately, so if you have to change planes, you will pay twice for checking your bag and seat selection.
Check Emirates as well - this past January they had fares comparable to Air Asia on their A380.
Just enter a bunch of fake info. I put in Bob Smith, 123 Main St, Doha, United Arab Emirates, and some goofy e-mail really [email protected] will probably work, 10 digits for a phone, 8 or 10 digits for passport number. Just make sure that the age would be for an adult and that the passport expiration date is valid.
I did that and got all the way to where it itemizes the fare and additional charges and gives the total. For your route on Aug 30: fare: 4015 THB bag up to 20 kg: 450 THB airport tax: 700 THB fuel surcharge: 200 THB seat fee: 350 THB total: 5715 THB Be creative. You could be an 87 year old man named Julia Caesar from Ghana. I've done this before. If there is anybody with bubba at gump dot com as their e-mail address then they are getting more than their fare of spam. So, now I use stuff like [email protected] |
Now that I have done that you don't have to. You could get a very close estimate by just adding the fees above to the base fare that you see.

Emirates are a good choice too- the 30kg luggage for economy is a real appeal for me
When I was in Bangkok last week, I saw an ad for flights to HOng Kong on Hong Kong Airlines with good prices.
Hey probably way too late but do consider Emirates, usually competitive cost against Air Asia and 30kg luggage meals included. Me and my Lady have travelled this route before and it works for us and the A380 is a smart plane to fly. Emirtaes inflight crew are very good I just find the ground staff a tad unfriendly especially in Dubai - but it is the air where it counts!
