Bangkok side trips?
My family and I are spending about 8 days in Bangkok next October. Any suggestions on side trips? I've read something about a place called Kanchanaburi. Is it interesting? How long does it take by car from BKK? I've read about a Budhist temple where they have tigers, and tourists can pet them. Do you know it? Again, any tips about it or about any other interesting place will be wellcome.
THANKS!!!! |
My favorite side trip is Ayuttaya, the old capital. It is about 1-1/2 hours from Bkk by car. Its nice to return by boat or at least take a dinner cruise the night you are there.
I've heard great things about the tiger temple from friends, but I've never been myself. |
lery, Katachanaburi is where you will see the bridge over the River Kwai. It can be done in a day trip although traffic can make it a long journey at times.

There have been several recent reports about Kanchanaburi, including one by IsisMunroe about a floating "hotel" there. Do a search, you should come up with a number of excellent and diverse recent reports.

the floating market about 1.5 hours from bkk is an oft visited site...there are some addtional sites in that area to visit....
i dare not speak about the town you mention...i will get in trouble... the tigers are fantastic by all reports, but drugged... |
