Bangkok: Ruen Mallika Restaurant

Anybody been here or heard of this place?

Ruen Mallika

189 Sukhumvit Soi 22
Bangkok, Thailand
66-2-6633-2112

Ruen Mallika, large "royal thai" menu, in a traditional nobleman's teak house, and a bit hard to find in a poor Asoke neighborhood.

Haven't been but it looks nice. Will try and ask some of my friends who like to eat out a lot and reply to you.

Wow it's 1.27am must sleep.

We ate there in November. Excellent food, excellent service, great atmosphere. It's now on our list of places to try to get to each trip. Obviously we have way too many places on that list, lol. It is a bit difficult to find, but persistence pays off.

It was on my list also (and has a great write up in my Wallpaper guide) on my "Must go" for November now. Great to have feedback from a Fodorite.

Will be in Bangkok in mid july and this restaurant is on my list also, will definitely report back.

Thanks for the feedback. I think its in a small side soi, heard something about turning off near a 7-11. High adventure just getting to it:)

We are going to have to put the place on our list too. While looking for reviews I stumbled on this link. The food looks very good, apparently the restaurant is located in a 100 year old open style wood house.

That's right Kathie did eat there on her last trip! No need for me to get any more information, the queen has spoken.

Looking at the restaurant map from their web site it does look a bit complicated to find so I would write down their phone number as well so that the taxi driver can call for directions.

We walked, stopping and asking periodically. It was a loong walk from the BTS past "interesting" businesses.

How interesting? :)

considering it with smealgol for our last night's dinner?? any updates?

Wondering if Evelyne went.

Soi Cowboy, Kathie? That should not be on the way to this restaurant... soi Cowboy is on the other side of Sukhumvit, where the odd numbered sois are. This restaurant is on an even numbered soi... 22. Should be between Asok and Phrom Phong BTS stations, on the 'even' side, and waaaaaaay down the soi.

Was it all presentation (remember BoLan?) or was it really the flavor of Royal Thai Cuisine? Just curious.

It is WAYYYYY down soi 22, my understanding of it is it's not on the Bo-lan scale!! more traditional. The place looks lovely. There are some "interesting bars" i noticed at the top of this Soi buy Suk. My friend and I took a walk round the block after we had eaten at Lemongrass on Soi 24.Didnt makeit to RM though so its onmy list for tis time. The nearest sky train is Phrom phong i would think.
