Bangkok River Dinner Cruises
 

Has anyone done these dinner/river cuises offered by the Oriental and Shangri La hotels?
Would like to hear from people that have done these. Comment on the type of food offered, price, overall experience.
Buffets?

again i will answer you here...i have not done them so i should not comment, BUT i understand that the food is not too good... most are in enclosed glassed, a/c boats...the marriott has a nice cruise on a rice barge which is far more attractive with no loud music, which many of the other boats have, and the boat is much smaller...i have been to the show at the oriental and if the food there is any judge of how it would be on the boat---i'd avoid it....just average at best...

i question the sanitation on some of the boats as well....take a look at them....

We have been to Bangkok twice,we were there in March,and we went on the Grand pearl dinner cruiseboat,this was the second time we have been on the evening dinner cruise[we enjoyed it so much the first time].It is a great way to spend an evening,very romantic,and we found the food to be of a very good standard,and i am very picky about my food!!!!.Take a look at their website,www.pearlofsiam.com
i'm sure you would really enjoy it,the temples lining the river are all lit up,and the boats look really pretty at night.

I've been on one of the Oriental dinner boats. It was a small "rice boat" that served an excellent Thai buffet. We were entertained as we cruised by a girl playing a Thai stringed instrument. A very pleasant experience. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

We took the Oriental Hotel's daytime river cruise on The Oriental Queen from Ayuthya to The Oriental. It was a 3 hour cruise with a very good Thai buffet luncheon and afternoon tea with cakes. I think it was about $45pp.
