Bangkok Restaurant Suggestion
A freind just returned from Bangkok and had an absolutely wonderful dinner --Thai food--at "Flava" in the very trendy boutique Dream Hotel, 10 Sukhumvit, Soi 15.
I've heard this is the most expensive Thai food in town. Pad Thai runs over 300 Baht (street price: 25 Baht).
michael ---sounds like a good place for you to go for christmas dinner....haha...300 is ok for a splurge..
Try Anna's Cafe. Thai food, very good and reasonable.
I've found a review of Flava from a Singapore food writer
http://www.chubbyhubby.net/2006/10/flava-is-fresh.html It looks good!! |
Gotta second the recommendation of Anna's Cafe in silom. Amazing food!

Another top-notch restaurant is the China House in the Oriental Hotel. That is if you enjoy Peking duck. It is the best I have had on probable 25-30 dinners of the fowl. It is enough for 2 and with an appetizer (pass on the Spring Rolls, just o'k.If you have room share 1 of the great deserts but you do not need it. The tab in this white table cloth restaurant with a glass of wine each ($10 for a 4+ oz. serving)will be $120 with service and tax, But for my money it was the best meal we had in Thailand in the 15 days in BK, CM and Koh Samui.

Stan - China House has not received good reviews since it reopened last month. I would proceed with caution...
Stan, as you know, I loved the old CHina House. The new China House is decidedly weird, and the Peking Duck (so far) is not as exquisite. Alas!
Stan-the new China House is nothing to exclaim over. The food is good, but not exqyuiaite. The service and ambiance are a lttle off.
What a shame to hear about China House. we eat there 2 times on our 1 month trip to Thailand/Malaysia in April and it was outragious. based on the above comments I will NOT recommend it, at this point.
