Bangkok Protests

how much mind should I pay to this image? I was planning on staying in the Sukumvhit area but this map makes it look like I should stay in Silom or KSR instead? I arrive on the 23rd.

That's a map reposted from the Bangkok Post. Everywhere in central and Northern Bangkok will be affected, Silom, KSR etc. By the 23rd it could very well be over or it could escalate into something more! Apart from the unavoidable traffic chaos you should monitor the level of violence occurring because of the shut down as well.

One has to believe that something has to break by the 23rd. Key players have been keeping to the sidelines. One has to believe they will come off the bench soon.

The shutdown is going to occupy many key intersections of the city, a city with extreme traffic problems already. The effects will, most likely, spread far and wide.

As said, closely monitor the happenings of this week's shutdown, assess the situation, assess you comfort zone, and decide on your plan of action.

It depends where on Sukumvhit you are staying also. Plan to use sky train to be above the traffic, but it will have heavy use if it is still open. As Hanuman says monitor the situation.
