Bangkok, Phuket in September
Hi everybody
We'll be going to Thailand in September(6-19) in Bangkok for 3 days and in Phuket for the rest.Any suggestions for what to do in such a time?(Sightseeing and things to capture the magic in BKK and maybe any day trip or excursion in Phuket) What the weather is like that time of the year? -We'll stay in Sangri La in Bangkok and in Sheraton Grande Laguna in Phuket- Thanks in advance Nikos |
or your 3 days in Bangkok I'd reccommend the following tours - if your first time there I'd perhaps suggest letting the hotel concierge / your tour rep (if you have one) book these tours for you - you'll pay a bit more but transport will be included:-
Hiring a long tail boat and driver and having an hour cruise around the klongs (canals) - this can easily be done by visiting the boat captain and the Shangri La's private pier. (Avoid the tour company boats they are much bigger and not as much fun) Visiting the Grand Palace Doing a temple tour (make sure you include the temple of the reclining buddha) Jim Thompsons House & Vinamark Palace - These are often combined together in a single tour by operators Take the monorail (adjacent to the Shangri La (Krungthep Wing) ) to the shopping areas and to the night market If stopping at the Shangri La enquire about the cost to upgrade to the Krungthep Wing - Wonderful - balcony's overlook the river - it feels like a super luxury boutique hotel! Phuket - The James Bond Island cruise is popular but a tad touristy - but if you're a tourist why not do touristy things? |
more time in bkk....

I recommend a boat tour to Phi Phi Islands from Phuket. But I don't know how extensive the damage was to Phi Phi Islands and how much has been cleaned up. These islands are amazing. Maya bay is where the movie The Beach was filmed.
|
Fantasea is an extravagant Theatre show which tells the story of Thailand..at one point there is about 20 elephants on stage. Well worth going to.
The other thing I would recommend is hiring a Tuk Tuk driver for the day and picking specific places you want to visit eg., the local Temple, the cashew factory, Phuket Town etc |
BTW it does rain in Phuket at this time of year. When we were there at this time it rained mid afternoon but quickly cleared up. It was not much of a problem.

Thanks everybody...
does anybody knows about any day trips with elephands or something like a jungle walk? Any special diving points? Is it possible to start learning golf in Phuket and if yes does anybody know where? |
For Golf try the Blue Canyon Club, they might have some teaching courses.
September still is rainy season There are lots of jungle treks etc from Phuket to neaby mainland areas. Try http://www.phuket.com/tours/index.htm also www.siamsafari.com and click on Phuket. www.phuketgazette.com also has a large range of information about tours and sightseeing, there is 'lots' to do. |
