You can buy fake handbags in lots of places. Personally, I'd much rather have originals from locals. Jim Thompson carries many things, including some great bags designed and made in Thailand.
For jewelry, I always recommend SJ International. There are plenty of threads here about them as I have referred many people to them, and have been buying from them sine the lat 80s/early 90s. Call them at 2243-2446 or 2241-1875 and they will pick you up at your hotel and return you there for free. Ask for Lily and tell her Kathie from Seattle sent you. She will give you wholesale pricing. They will have pendants already made up, and they have loose stones and are glad to custom-make a pendant to your order.
PS this thread is so old it's a historical document!

"Historical" or not, I still enjoyed the read. I'm really going to have to try to get to Penang soon. It has been on my list for a while.
Wish I could explain to zephne where to find the A grade Chanel bags, but it is like a maze in the noon market in the Silom area. They are hard to find... almost a secret. Very high quality. No, I don't own one, don't want one. Not interested. Just trying to give advice.

Wonderful thread...thanks Kathie. I'm glad SJ International is still around after all these years. Will definately go there and ask for Lily.
Carol, I heard of a place called Jinny's Leathergoods in Silom Village. Could that be the place yo are referring to?
I will also look into Jim Thompson. Thanks Kathie.
I'm getting so excited!

I don't recall a name at all. I just recall a basement with shops selling bags. Sorry I don't have more info.
Zephne, when are you going to Bangkok? I'm heading there on Thursday for just over 2 weeks.

Hmmm. I guess I don't understand the Hat/hate CM club. I always enjoy my visit to CM. May be going for a couple of days in the next couple of weeks as I'm leaving on Thursday for just over 2 wks in Thailand. The schedule will evolve once I get to BKK.

I've never spent more than a couple of days in CM so not much time to get bored. Having the same driver everytime also helps. Jit knows where we want to go and does a good job getting from place to place.

Zephne, the Silom noon market is only on week days so the really good Chanels won't be on sale, I don't think. Saturday night will no doubt be time for Beer Vault at Four Points on Sukhumvit soi 15, to see entertainer Lee Shamrock and gather with friends, if you are in the neighborhood. About 8?
