I am wondering if anyone knows any events going on for New Years Day in Bangkok (festivals, parades etc)? Any cool events going on on New Years Eve?

on the eve there are always fireworks on the river near the major hotels..

I have spent many a NYE in Bangkok. I always stay on the river to enjoy the great fireworks shows. There are often public countdowns at one of the major shopping centers. All hotels and restaurants will offer special meals for NYE, sometimes with live entertainment. Remember this is the New Year for Westerners. The traditional Thai New Year is in April.

The fun part about that land is that you get to see the new year celebration from various cultures and religions at different times of the year. And they are all celebrated with great zeal
