Bangkok Metropolitan vs Banyan Tree

Have a room deluxe view suite at the Banyan Tree for December 24-27 but now see that the Metropolitan, next door, has availability and that a Met Room is slightly cheaper.

Has anyone stayed at both? any advice?

Haven't stayed at both, but have stayed at the Metropolitan(Aug 2004) and would DEFINITELY stay there again. Loved it. Happy Travels!

Like Guenmai, I haven't stayed at the Banyan Tree but have stayed at the Metropolitan and loved it. Will stay there again next month. Depends what you're looking for. The Met is hip, stylish, and has a lot of cool design details. Great spa and excellent service. The Met is perfect for me, but some people might find it too focused on design and style. It's very modern, which I like. I'm sure you can find more reviews at tripadvisor.com.

Agreed. I've stayed at the metropolitan and it is excellent. Great bar and a chili cocktail on the menu!

I've reviewed it on my site at

Yes, the Met is a real breath of fresh air! Two thumbs way up! Happy Travels!

Oh, if you can...go for a suite at the Met. I was given an extensive tour of the place and the split level suite....$370., but can usually be gotten for less...was amazing. Plus, you get a butler that will serve your meals in your suite if you want. There's a nice dining area in the suite and the bathroom is great. The Met is more like living in a hip apartment without a kitchen. You don't feel like you're in a hotel room. Happy Travels!
