Don't tourists still go to Ayutthaya? We went by excursion bus in the morning. Saw something first (long time ago). Then Ayutthaya which I thought was excellent. Very interesting to compare with Seam Reap. Then boat with lunch back. Lovely day and still time to do something in the early evening. We took the boat from the Oriental but there were several other choices. It was a highlight for me but I like old palaces, temples, forts, etc.

I'm not including Ayutthaya on this trip as we'll only have 3 full days in Bangkok, and that's barely enough to scratch the surface of the city. As we'll be spending 4 days at Siem Reap, we'll be ending our trip with a great experience.

I'd love to get to Ayutthaya - it looks wonderful - but it doesn't seem to make sense on this trip. Next trip, then!
