Hi Guys,
A group of us, 4 ladies will be traveling to Bangkok in early May and we would like ideas of what to see and do, to make this trip memorable. Should we spend all our time in Bangkok since we will be there 8 days, are there other places close by we should visit? All of us love the beach and to snorkel. Thanks! |
gharr: see up the top of the page where it says 'Search.'?
Type 'Bangkok'. Then click. When, after a long, long time, you've read everything in there and you're still lost for ideas, get back to us. |
gharr...some of us use drivers/guides to take us around both inside the city but more often outside the city...
give or take they charge about $100 per day for a long day of touring....it is really worth it... three who come to mind are cherry, tong and ratt.....each lady is interesting in her own right but they are fun and informative to spend time with... so with only 8 days, i think i would stick to bangkok and use one of them to take you outside the city for two day trips, or more if you want....do the same kind of search above to find them... |
<and you're still lost for ideas, get back to us.>
with a new post, which will get more attention. ((*)) |
gharr: I second Jed's suggestion that you start a new post. You'll get a lot more response that way and more specific to your needs.
TravelFreak: the exchange rate at the airport wasn't any better than I got at a big bank in the Sukhumvit area, and exchanging money at the airport is easier because the booths are right there and you don't have to go and hunt for a bank later on. Just a tip! :) Your trip sounds beter with each new posting! :) |
gharr,
My suggestion is to take an overnight train to Chumphon and get on a boat to Koh Tao as soon as you have got some sleep. The island is awesome and there is snorkle/scuba everywhere and you can just relax on a beautiful warm island. Now I don't want to give you the impression that BKK is not worth your 8 days because I spent the better part of 8 months using BKK as my SEA hub but there is nothing like a thai island for a week of relaxation. Good luck |
If you are in Bangkok and do not want to do the normal touristy things - there is a fab bicycle tour that I took. You do not need to be fit at all. It takes you through non touristy areas, through China town, through the market, to temples not on the map - it is fab!
