Yes, there's air conditioning. The room was very comfortable. As for food, I didn't have anything at Ibrik. Really, they just have coffee and cakes, not meals. I arrived hungry and ventured out to one of the local Thai places they recommended. It was on the river and just a few doors away from Ibrik.

Thanks for the extensive report mealea! It's a great relief indeed. I have booked it for Jan 05 for 2 nights. I'm a real sucker for quaint places...tho I'm on a TIGHT budget and my 1st time in Thailand...but but but, how can anyone resist those pictures! I'll be spending 6D in Bangkok, so I have 3 nights to go crazy doing all the touristy stuff and rough it out in some el cheapo hotels.
Been starving for info about Ibrik I stumbled upon on the net. And hoping to find more boutique resorts but to no avail. It was love at 1st sight! Had a crazy time deciding which room tho. The pic of River room grabbed my attention at first but was a little worried about noise and smell, next choice was Sunshine room ...I changed my mind like 10 million times among the 3 after paying the deposit online, and finally confirmed the River room yesterday (Gobe must be annoyed by now haha)... I think I should still stick with River room (tho I was extremely tempted to change back to Sunshine after ur report ha)...oh never mind I will do this for you Ibrik lovers. Await my reTURN!

I also recently found an online English language Thailand newspaper "The Nation" article from October interviewing the guy who has the book series "Hip Hotels" and Ibrik and the Metropolitan I believe will be the Bangkok hotels featured in next book.

Can you tell me what information Gobe gave you about the Moonlight? I am actually going at the en of January and the only two available are the River and Moonlight. He told me that the River room has twin beds and the Moonlight a queen. The sunshine is not available, so since we are a couple I decided for the Moonlight. But I wanted to be by the river so I already paid the deposit but like you I am still thinking about it. Do you think I should pick the River eventhough it has twin beds?

Joh, unfortunately Gobe didn't respond to my query on the rooms. I asked tons (via 2 emails) but her reply only contain booking info. I wonder why. River room has twin beds and if you're going with someone special, uh uh, don't think that'll be very romantic? If I were you, for queen bed sake I'll take Moonlight...you can always enjoy the river view from the Cafe's balcony over a steaming cup of tea. Easy for me to say, honestly my gut feel about Moonlight is not good as far as view is concern.
