Bangkok hotel recommendation for a group of 4
 

We are looking for a 5 star hotel that can accomodate 4 adults in a room. Don't want to rent two rooms. Any suggestions about places to stay (preferably on the river or other convenient location close to shopping)?

We just came (Nov.12) from Bangkok, stayed at Shangri-La. It's a paradise on the earth. We just followed the experts advises from this site and Frommers, booked it through priceline(sg), and had absolutely fabulous time. I don't know if there is a regular room for 4 adults, but you have to check the hotel direct site and see: www.shangri-la.com.
It has a perfect location: by the river, 5 minutes walk to ST and ferry which are the most fast ways to move around the city because of the traffic.

as far as i can determine there are no four person rooms in bkk, especially in the 4 and 5 star hotels...

an alternative might be one of the serviced apartments, like marriott mayfair or one of the centre point properties....they have two bedroom units which are very very nice, esp. the marriott....all are well located...

i did some checking on this in june for some fodor friends and that is what i came up with...

there might be some one bedroom suites that have a sofa bed in the living room but in the 5 star hotels they may end up more expensive than two rooms.

We also did a lot of checking, as our two daughters are 17 and 20...we wanted to keep the family together.

It almost seems Bangkok has a limit of 3 to a room, as I never found quad rooms in the 4* or 5* hotels. Did find 2 bedroom Thai villas at the Conrad Hotel (they were sold out over the holidays) and the 2 bedroom suites in the river hotels, but they were more than triple the cost of double rooms.

Hi Miss Muffett, There are no 5-star hotels in Bangkok that will allow 4 adults in a room. However, I know an agent that specializes in Thailand and has rates at the new 5-star Metropolitan of $159 a night including all taxes and full breakfast. At that rate you can more easily take two rooms - we did last month and loved it. Let me know if you want the agent's e-mail!

several of the hotels have adjoing rooms with a door that opens between them....you may have to opt for this if you don't do the 2 bedroom apartment...

the conrad hotel also offers serviced apartments.

Peninula was FABULOUS...Your teen-aged and older daughters would be very comfortable and safe in their own room. I am sure they would prefer it too!

Is there any web site for booking serviced apartments? I really love the Peninsula but renting 2 rooms may become too expensive. Anyone knows if Peninsula have suites and if they'll take 4 people in them?

Pen does have suites, but none that accommodate 4 people except their top choices which are very expensive. What time of year are you traveling??

You might want to look at Chateau de Bangkok. It is part of Sofitel. The price for junior suite in January is 1,840 baht.
