Bangkok Hotel? Need help in deciding
 

We are considering staying at the Shangri-La Hotel or the Sheraton Royal Orchid - any recommendations?

anything but the sheraton for me...

the sh-la has many things nicer than the ROS...it is directly next to the skytrain station.;...it has the best breakfast in bkk, imo.... the rooms are nicer...i think the public rooms are nicer...

it does cost more...

the main thing is the skytrain

I think I'm going to go for Shangri-La the next time I go to Bangkok. I'm hunting for an upgrade in the Golden Circle program (after staying a lot at Traders in KL) so I guess I should also check out a Shangri-La hotel. I stayed near by it in 2007 when I stayed at Lebua and access to the skytrain is important. We enjoyed our stay at the Shang but have not stayed at the ROS. We were in the Krungthep wing which is closest to the skytrain with great views, free breakfast, cocktails etc. That being said, we plan to return to the Peninsula this year.

Thanks for this topic, goalis7continents. I don't recall anyone asking about Bangkok hotels before, and certainly not the two you mentioned, so it should be an enlightening discussion.

If this subject had been yakked about <i>ad nauseam</i>, then your post would have been kinda disrespectful to those people who had taken the time to answer this question leventyseven times before.

You'd be bitter too if you lived in Billerica. Perfectly understandable on a day like today that is slightly crisp.

i just read that sh-la is building a low cost hotel in billerica...it will be a magnet....

Billerica is beautiful in winter, the fallen snow a counterpoint to the rusted used cars that are My Town's lawn ornaments.

Bah.

I really enjoyed staying at the Metropolitan.

Personally, I'd take the Shagnri-La. It's next to the skytrain station. Happy Travels!
