Bangkok Hotel for Small Kids!

Bangkok Hotel for Small Kids!
I am looking for a hotel with a waterslide and nice pool to help entertain my three year old. A small waterslide is fine but the bigger the better. I don't want to go to a waterpark though, just want something we can do between sightseeing and shopping. Also need a kidsclub and babysitter. I believe the Marriot has these but how is the pool? Thanks for any ideas and input!!!
Also any BKK hotels have good kids clubs?

I am not aware of any hotel pool in Bangkok which has a slide, waterfall, or similar features. The Marriott pool is very large and has lots of shade, which you will appreciate in Thailand as the sun is so strong. There is also a good size hot tub. There is a small wading pool for younger children. They have some small grassy areas.
You would have to ask about kids clubs, I am not sure any of the hotels have them. These are city hotels and not resort hotels. They don?t have much room for a kids club and kids activities. I believe any hotel could arrange babysitting.

bangkok is known as a Disney land for adults not children so hotel infrustructue is not really geared for kids. and as CICARONE said this a city.. not too many cities anywhere in the world have hotels with slides and playgrounds in them. but you could find a hotel wich is close too a park with has swings/big play set or stay near emporium mall wich has a play areao for young children with those balls you dive in too chucky cheese style.
there may be something out there though.but a litle away from town..

We've stayed at the Peninsula 3 times with our now almost 7 year old daughter. While others may say the Pen isn't kid friendly, we've had only great experiences there. The first time we went our daughter was 3 1/2, most recenly she was 5. We've always gotten a suite, with an extra bed in the living room area, but I think a bed would fit in the bedroom without trouble if that suited you better.
The main restaurant (can't remember the name now, but the one with breakfast) was absolutely kid friendly, with lots of good choices for kids. Sitting outside next to the river is really entertaining for little ones.
The river shuttle boat is a great entertainer in and of itself...it became an after dinner traditioin for us just riding the boat back and forth across the river a few times, enjoying the views and the lights.
The pool is really nice, with roofed salas so you don't get sunburned. There isn't a slide or waterfall, but our daughter really enjoyed swimming between pool sections under the little bridges and going from the warm water jacuzzi to the cool water pool...plus she loved virgin pina coladas served poolside!
We didn't use the babysitting, but it is on offer there. We did use a car hired through the hotel for a couple of day trips...the summer palace in Ayuthaya was a big hit with the scultped bushes in elephant shapes and pond with fish and turtles. She also enjoyed riding the longtail boats around the small canals in Bangkok.
In the Emporium shopping center, our daughter took part in a craft activity that was on offer one day...several choice, she made a small vase with dried flowers and colored rocks in it. The big department store in there (forget the name) has a terrific kids section with Plan toys which are just great and really reasonably priced. The supermarket in there is also quite good, selling lots stuff I can't get in Kanazawa (but maybe you can in Tokyo?).
I've never stayed at the Marriott but it gets really good reviews here. We've thought that maybe we might try it on our next trip to Bangkok...but then again, we may have been a bit spoiled by the Pen.
I think if you relax and take it day by day and don't do too much shopping or sightseeing in any one day but spread it our, you'll find that you'll really enjoy your stay in Bangkok. It's one of our favorite places to go!

I totally agree with kimjapan. We have several children (14 months to 14 years)and we love to take quick weekend trips to Bangkok.
We usually stay at the Oriental (connecting rooms - but a standard room with a twin bed roll away would probably work well for you) and while it might seem to be a very adult hotel we have always found both the hotel and staff wonderful with our children - no water slide but a lovely little pool surrounded by trees plus a shallow baby pool perfect for the smallest ones. Eating breakfast and/or dinner on the terrace overlooking the river is also a family favorite. The atmosphere is super low key and outside so you don't have to worry about disturbing other guests. Watching the river traffic is a fun bonus and provides a great distraction for the children while my husband and I finish our meal. No kidsclub though.
We have also stayed at the Pen and think both hotels are a great option for families - our children really enjoy the boat/ferry ride up, down,and across the river too so for us a hotel along the river is a must! Both hotels offer babysitting but we haven't used the service (sorry!).
We have also stayed at the Banyan Tree and IMO I would not take a little one to stay at this hotel. The rooms are large (basically they are all suites with a living room attached) and lovely. However, the pool is tiny and it is located on a very high floor - not at ground level. The pool is surrounded by a clear glass (perspex possibly) fence with beautiful views over the city but there are gaps between the floor and the bottom of the glass fence that made me nervous the entire time even though none of my children were near the fence -one of those mom things! Also, there weren't any other children at the pool and the atmosphere was extremely adult. In addition, the Banyan Tree, while it is close to Lumpini(sp?)Park, isn't as convenient for sightseeing (IMO) which translated to longer driving times for us.
As per KimJapan's tips we enjoy the Emporium Mall (it can get VERY crowded though - just be prepared) and echo her suggestion for a day trip to Ayuthaya. If you book a van/car through the hotel for a daytrip, and if you allow your child to watch videos, you can request that it have a TV and children's videos (usually Disney) in it to help pass the time.
Sorry we haven't stayed at the Marriot. I guess we are in a rut because we enjoy the Oriental so much -we should probably branch out though and try it next time

I say look for something you'd enjoy first. kids are kids they'll make a game out of anything. and if worse comes too worse they'lle pick their nose for entertainmnet. (don't worry this act is actually pritty commen place even ammongst thai adults).
the department store inside emposrium mall is called "emporium"
actually one the best kids departments in a bkk department store would be in ISITAN (world trade center) they also have a kids play area. and the toys thier are wicked cool.. many things from japan..
CENTRAL chit lom also has brand NEW kids play area

i always suggest the marriott resort and spa for people with kids (and for those with no kids as well)...several reasons: the pool is the nicest in bkk imo...you can eat in an area next to the pool...the grounds are decently sized and contained....the variety of eating available (poolside informal, chinese, japanese, buffet, pizza, sandwiches, bakery, polynesian and other within the hotel...in the adajacent/attached mini mall there are other food places including mcdonalds, burger king, sizzler (terrible), thai family (good and cheap) and several others including swensons ice cream and pizza....also there are tailors, laundry/dry cleaning, drug store/convenience, camera/film shop, jewerly, Queen S shop, stalls with cheap stuff, some video games---in short the mall is a place where the kids can go unattended and be safe and near-by....
i forgot to mention that there is a kids pools and a hot tub/whirl-pool adajacent to the main pool....the grounds are expansive and lovely...
the hotel offers a free boat to the taskim pier skytrain station all day every 15 minutes and it takes 10-15 minutes to get there....allows you to enjoy the river....
most bkk hotels suggest adjoining rooms for families as family rooms seem to be un-heard-of...

i used the www.huahin.20m.com site for part of my last stay...it includes taxes, service and buffet breakfasts and sometimes they have a promotion as well which you see under the prices...
www.asiavoyage24.com also has good prices but they have received some bad press on this board...i think the bad press is only as it relates to refunds and many pre-paid sites have refund problems so i am not sure how valid the complaint is...you need to have the whole story...don't book with a pre paid if you think there is any change of a change being required...i think that is common sense...
priceline also has this hotel for about $45, but you may end up with the holiday inn...its a gamble...read: www.biddingfortravel.com first and understand priceline workings....
