Pulley...I've been trying to post throughout the day, but there was some kind of problem where there was nowhere to click to post a reply. So, now I'm on a working system.
Anyhow, to answer your question...as I stated above, I stay at Emporium Suites Serviced Apartment building at the Prom Phong skytrain station which is one stop past Asoke. It's less than a minute, on the skytrain, between Asoke and Prom Phong.
Emporium costs about what President Solitaire costs unless things have changed. Some big advantages of Emporium Suites are that the apartment building is attached to the Emporium office building where there's a Bangkok Bank right at one's finger tips...along with Starbucks, Au Bon Pain and a couple more eateries, and the building is also attached to the Emporium Shopping Mall. There's a passageway that dumps one right out into the mall. The mall is attached to the skytrain station. Plus, there's a huge gourmet supermarket on the top level of the Emporium Mall which makes grocery shopping a breeze. It's not uncommon to see residents at Emporium Suites pushing their grocery baskets directly from the grocery store over to the apartment building and into their apartments. There are also a lot of eateries and a movie theater on the top level of the mall. And there are many very good restaurants within walking distance.
As for Centrepoint, there are several Centrepoints.I went to Centrepoint Wireless and had a complete walk-through of the place. I didn't like the service I received to say the least. The person who took a Thai friend and I around was quite rude. I had to really just bite my tongue so that my Thai friend wouldn't possibly "loose face" if I were to go off... and I was VERY close to going off. Another poster on this forum (Bonita) has commented, in the past, about the same kind of attitude that she's received there. I think she once stayed at one or more of the Centrepoints. Now, I haven't been to Centrepoint Silom...before I possibly get jumped on...since there are folks who really like that building. I'm speaking about Centrepoint WIRELESS. I have never had that type of problem at Emporium Suites where the staff is a back-over-backwards, happy, upbeat type of staff. If they see me struggling with a bag of groceries, someone will come and take it out of my arms and carry it to my apartment for me. So, from someone who has actually lived in that building, I give it thumbs way up.
How long do you plan to be in BK when you return? I've got ot go now. Take care. Happy Travels!
