jw marriott, majestic grande (brand new and just behind the marriott) landmark, westin grand, sheraton grande....any of these are great and in the middle of it all...
i prefer the marriott, because among other things it has the easy toll road access

After researching all the options, we figured out that you only save maybe 10 minutes by staying at an airport hotel versus one in Sukhumvit area near JW Marriott. Then based on Bob's recommendation we found this great deal for a superior room at $73 includng taxes and breakfast at the Majestic Grand Hotel which is right behind the Marriott. It looks like a new hotel and is a block from the entrance to the expressway to the airport. We booked online using the Sawadee website. Thanks everyone.

We are staing hee in January, in a Grande Deluxe (40 sqm) for 3990 net. The small bit of extra money gets you lots more space.

i would just about always follow the recommendations of RHK!!! but not this time. arrive 2000hrs. processing, baggage claim, and travel to sukumvit area will get you in town about 2200-2230hrs. if your departure is 1130hrs you need to be at the airport 2-3 hours before with travel you need to leave 0900hrs? what is the benefit of being in the city for next to no shopping time or more importantly relaxation. i do agree the amari hotel rates are outrageous!!! (although a nice place and accessable to anf from in the over-highway walkway. i stayed there (for free) when my wife was a flight attendant!

try the miracle grand around $50.

We stayed at the Miracle Grand our last night in Thailand a year ago. It was quite wonderful. Luxury room, luxury bath, and an unbelievable buffet for about $10 US.

This is easy, though I agree Miracle Grand is also an option and 20 minutes away the Sofitel Grand Plaza also an option
