Bangkok,Hong Kong, Singapore Kuala, Ho Chimin????
 

Hello!
My husband and I are going on vacation to South Asia and will like some help deciding cities to visit. We are going for 21 days. We will arrive in Bangkok and depart from Hong Kong. Will like to spend a week or so at the beach (PUCKET OR BALI????)

We are also thinking about visiting Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chiming and Phum Penh. Too much in such a short time...

As you will be in Bangkok I would think you would be better off going to Phuket rather than Bali especially in view of your itinerary and time available. You don't say what time of the year which may make a difference.

Yes, way too much in such a short time. You've listed five places you want to see in two weeks (since you want a week at a beach). Even flying between cities means you have only two days per city when you aren't traveling. That sounds like no fun to me. What is it you want to experience on your trip? Decide that then you can plan where to go.

kill penom phen. your trip is EASY.. if you can buy an air pass. there are many in the industry now a days.. from what you posted cathey's all asia pass seems the same. many airlines offer passes but you have too ask them directtly.. unfortuntly I lost a great link....
there is one service where you buy one way segments..

another option is using airasia too get you from bkk too phuket. Phuket KL. and KL too singapor relativly cheeplly and fast.

langkawi or penang may be a good option and keeps the itiinuary tite as well..

travel times should not be too long if you leave out bali.

Orgy, the Cathay Pacfic Airpass requires that you make all connections through Hong Kong, adding many hours to flights that are otherwise quite short. Likewise, the Malaysian Airpass requires that connections be made though KL. The airpasses are typically a bad idea if you have limited time and the hub city is not central to all your destinations.

Time of year will disctate where you spend 'beach time', when are you traveling?

I am sorry I forgot the dates. We are leaving AUG 11 and will be back 1 of September. Too rainy for the beach in Thailand. Any other options???

I check some of the rules of the airpasses and most of them will be a lost of time since one will have to use a HUB city, making flighs very long.

ALso after reading all your commenst we have decided to take out Hong Kong it is too far. We will concentrate in the South.

It is imperative to go to the North of Thailand and also to North Vietnam??

cathey has come up with a new program that involves buying segments for up too $150 per flight.. I've used the cathey all asia pass. and just mentioned it as a refrence.. well acutlay I was wrong the malaysian airlines pass is the best it includes every distination you mentioned minus HK.. I personaly would use cambo of airpas and budget airlines too do the whole cirle trip.

Do you mean Rayong, midway between Pattaya and Koh Trang?

We had been there last year. We stayed at the Ao Prao Resort on Koh Samet. It's an isolate lovely resort on the west side of the Koh Samet, great sunset view on the sort of private beach though there is not much facilities there. If you looking for a do-nothing holiday, that would be a good choice.

We had stayed in a beachfront villa with a lovely sit out area just infront of the villa.

I believe that you must fly an internation leg into thailand too be issued a pass.
