Bangkok hands: getting to Ibis Riverside?

A quick question for Bangkok hands:

We will take the overnight train from Chiang Mai, arriving on a Tuesday morning. We will be staying at Ibis Riverside for two nights, then departing from DMK.

We can exit the train at DMK or at the train station. What is our easiest/best option for getting to the Ibis Riverside at that hour? Are options better from DMK or the train station?

I would guess that metered taxi from the train station would be best, but rush hour might be a problem.

Also: any experience leaving bags for a few days at the luggage storage at DMK? That might be an easier option than having to slog back to the same hotel after our quick visa trip.

Thanks!

Definitely a taxi from Huamlampong. It took us around 20 mins compared with around 45-60 mins from DMK. Rush hour shouldn't be an issue as It is a pretty straight road either on the "normal" roads or there is an toll road as I recall.

Thank you. Huamlampong it is -- a metered taxi should do the trick.

BTW, sitting on the deck at Soppong River Lodge as I write this. Magical.

One more question, please:

We have an international flight (Air Asia) departing 11:05am from DMK. We will be leaving from Ibis Riverside. I assume we need to be at the airport no later than 9:00am, so it our best bet a taxi at about 8:00am?

We will only have our "light bags" but getting to mass transit from Ibis Riverside is not easy.

Thanks to everyone for the help!

Soppong River lodge is special isn't it? Loved the food there!

8.00am should be fine. The Ibis will print your AA boarding passes for you if you check in online which always helps speed the process. They do have a shuttle tuk tuk which will take you to the BTS station in that side of the river in around ten mins, but a taxi will be much easier.

BTW - you may find you need to walk away from the train station to get a taxi that will use the meter.

taxis for all your rides.

I always want to be at bkk airports 3 hours before my flights.

I would not store my bags at station or airport.

If you have booked in online and only need bag drop I would say 2 hours before ( especially at DMK)) is sufficient unless you like to hang around very dull airports (DMK has very limited facilities)
