Bangkok for family of 4
We are going to Phuket and Bangkok in March. We are staying at the Katathani in Phuket and are looking for the best value for a family of four (2 kids, 10, 13) in Bangkok. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We've already altered our trip to include more time in Bangkok thanks to the awesome input from the readers of this forum. Thankyou!

unfortunately family rooms do not really exist in thailand.. nor do double doubles in most places...
my best suggestion in bkk is to rent a two bed room serviced apartment...it has worked very well for some fodor families... centre point silom centre point wireless centre point sukhumvit marriott mayfair emporium suites princess oakwood these are all very nice and there are many more |
Count me as one of those persons who when on vacation does not want to cook in our room, or be in an apartment- we want the services and conviences of a full service hotel/resort. So if you fall into this category- then maybe the Marriott Resort in BKK would be good for your group- providing you can afford to pay for 2 rooms.

Bill-- it's scary. We agree again. :-)

I am with those who suggest an apartment in BKK. I don't do cooking!! But I like a cup of rice with chicken for breakfast, and I like having coffee and OJ and popcorn, that sort of thing. I also keep yogurt and several bottles of water in my fridge.
I love having the space that an apt allows. You can get a 2-bedroom apt for a very reasonable price. I've stayed at the Grand President and at the Omni Tower. i would recommend the Grand President on soi 11 over Omni, for the location. It is a short walk to the skytrain station at Nana. But that said, I think the Marriott Resort on the river is a nice place for families. I just stayed at Katathani a couple of weeks ago and LOVED it! Your kids and you will have a great time there!
