Bangkok Essentials - Hairdressers, Laundry, etc.
 

My wife and I will be staying at the Marriott Hotel & Spa March 26-April 3. Anyone know of a good hairdresser for my wife and a barber for me? Also, I suspect that the Marriott will be unreasonably expensive for laundry. Anyone have any recommendations?
Lastly, any recommendations for drivers other than Ratt (who seems to be extremely busy) and Julie's Taxi (which seems to be somewhat unreliable)?

jerry---i also use a young guy whose english is decent but not fabulous...he is slow to respond as he translates things you say....he is more of a driver but aims to please...he charges about 250 B per hour...his name is somphet gunthon...his wife is a maid at the marriott...he stations himself by the peninsula hotel but would gladly come to the marriott...

we like him a lot....we have used him all over bkk, but not for sightseeing...

he drives the same toyota corolla as does ratt only his is newer and slightly larger...
green and yellow taxi....the only ones to use in bkk by the way!!

We used Julie's Taxi 5 times recently. They were always prompt and reliable. The trick is to make telephone contact with Julie a day or two before your ride is needed.

BTW. Green and Yellow = owner-opertor, the Blue and Red belong to a company.

BTW, has anyone notices that emails and links posted in threads are now "hot"?

400B sticks in my mind but i am not sure....for just a straight run he might use the meter which would be less than 300...plus 60 B tolls

i would add that many of these people who also do touring are not all that interested in airport runs as it takes so much time and they get stuck there...

I think you are better off getting a taxi from the airport or using one of the Limo services there. It's quick and easy. It really is more hassle than it's worth for one of the independents to drive to the airport wait for you and take you to your hotel.

We've always taken a taxi in the pst with no problem. I was just wondering about getting a driver.
