Please can anyone who has used a Bangkok dentist tell me if they booked in advance or just called when in Bangkok.
If you have been to Bumrungrad we would be grateful to know which dentist was good (this is just for cleaning teeth - no big procedure). Pleased to hear of recommendations of other dentists there too.

We have used Dr. Chaiwat Suechanyapong at Bumrungrad for the last few years and have been very happy with him. We book by email but have had trouble getting them to send a reply - usually I end up having to ring the Dental Clinic to confirm the appointment - its always been made but of course we don't know when as they haven't sent an email back. Each time I speak to someone about it when we are in Bangkok and last time was asked to fill out a form which also asked if we would like a reply to our note by email. Despite saying yes we have still never had a reply. So the email service is lousy but the Dentist is great. Seems email is handled through a central service but who knows what goes wrong!

Bumrungrad dental department is excellent, super service, 5 star!

We've also used Bumrumgrad. The dentist we have is Saisuda Nilasinthop, DDS. I really think you could just ask for an appointment and you'd be assigned a dentist. that's what we did and we were very happy with the denitist assigned to us.

Thanks for all your replies. I had already emailed Bumrungrad & had one reply (you are right Mary, they are not very quick) - I have now filled in the appointment form & sent it off. If we get no reply before we set off we'll phone to check on arrival. Thanks for all the advice.

Your lucky to get the one reply! They use to be very quick and very helpful but the last couple of years something has gone amiss.

You will need to go to the hospital about 15 minutes before your appointment to register - they will give you a card that then has your hospital number etc on it and this stays with you for the future - you don't have to check in each time, simply go straight to the clinic. We always carry that card with us in Bangkok just in case - if you are involved in an emergency hopefully it will be seen and you will be taken to Bumrungrad. Speeds things up a lot if you need to go there for anything else too.

Sorry to jump on your post but does anyone know how much costs to have your teeth whitened at B Hospital?

Hi, I've been looking to have my teeth whitened when I go to Bangkok and have heard some good reports of Silom Dental, just off Silom Road, near to Chong Nonsi station. Their website shows that for Britesmile whitening is 18,000 baht. They also do LaserSmile whitening which is cheaper at 12,000 baht.

I had my teeth whitened in Phuket last November for about $200.00US, should be cheaper now. Anyway, I had the concierge at the Marriott Resort book my appointment when I arrived. Didn't seem to be a big deal. Actually, when someone heard I was doing it, they came along and the dentist took him right after me without an appointment.

most dentist come from Mahidol university or at least the good dentists do. I would not go to Bumrungrad to just get my teeth cleaned. I'd drop into any of the hundreds of dentists in town. most charge about 14-18 bucks for clean up. i personaly don't need a 5 star service for a dentist to scrape gunk off my teeth. If I needed something more seriouse I'd definatly consider Bumrungrad but I would probtly go to pheyatai hostpital. which is a verry good privet hosptital which charge a bit less then Bumrungrad.

phayathai hospital along with others. offer just about every service as bumrngrad. but with 4 star service. I read somewheree that Bumrungrad is practicaly considered a 5 star hotel.

Given that we're considering moving to Thialnd when we retire, we wanted to test out the medical care there. Getting our teeth cleaned at Bumrumgrad seemed like a good way to do it. It cost me 1100 baht for a cleaning. A real deal compared to US$160 I pay in Seattle!

By teh way, we did not get back an appointmetn confirmation last time or this time, but had to email and ask for the confirmation, whaich they did very quickly. I think they don't routinely email back if they are able to give you the time you requested.

I emailed Silom Dental and got a reply back almost immediately, despite it being 10.10pm Bangkok time! I've got an appointment for teeth whitening on 30th December.

I just had my teeth cleaned this morning at Bumrungrad. Cost was 1,510 Baht. I really like my current dentist, Dr. Kulatip. She has a very warm bubbly personality, and generally proposes the easiest or least expensive option when I do need work.
