Bangkok: Chinatown Exploration
 

This area is on my to do list. What are some of your favorite things to do, and see, and places to eat.

For me Around Thanon Phra Athit is nice.

I always make a stop at Wat Tramit.

- You can also arrive by the THB 30 tourist express boat to Rachawongse pier and make your way down to the southern part of Yaowarat Road: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kalboz/6754737373/

- The Neo-Renaissaqance style Hua Lamphong Station which was opened in 1916, is a great place to visit: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kalboz/8050960049/

- Next, I'd visit Wat Traimit (Temple of the Gold Buddha) which is on the way to Chinatown Gate: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kalboz/8050967856/

- Yaowarat Road. Starting at Odeon Gate this is the main attraction. This major thoroughfare snakes its way into Chinatown. At night this street full of food vendors and street-side restaurants: http://milepoint.com/forums/threads/.../#post-1695561

- Odean Gate; A feature seen in most Chinatowns, a gate devoted to the King of Thailand: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kalboz/8050972156/

Bangkok Food Tours offers a Chinatown food tour. We took another tour of theirs which was excellent. www.bangkokfoodtours.com

Wat Traimit, temple of the solid gold Buddha, hours are from 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM daily

You really don't need the food tour for Chinatown, you can do your own.
